Sucralose

I'm considering cutting it. I typically only have 2-3 packets in my coffee in the am.

Has anyone else cut it and noticed a difference?

Biggy Fat 09-11-2013 08:41 AM

I don't know the answer to your question. I actually have the same question since I want to start drinking Powerade Zero and some of those liquid water enhancers, all of which contain sucralose.

Ntombi 09-11-2013 08:45 AM

I use the liquid version, rather than the packets. The packets (and the other powdered versions) contain all kinds of fillers, which have carbs and the main filler, maltodextrin, is known to cause inflammation as well, so you probably would notice a difference without them.

I use sweetzfree liquid sucralose, which has nothing but the sucralose and filtered water. It's been my main sweetener for many years, and I have never had a problem with it.

That said, I don't use a lot, and often go without it at all when I'm not drinking coffee or tea, and it hasn't made a difference either way.

I think some people do fine on sucralose and others don't.
I agree with Ntombi about finding a liquid sucralose instead of using the packets--- the maltodextrin filler makes the carb count go up. If you use a lot of it, it can add up.
I'm always surprised at the carb difference between liquids and powders when I tally up a dessert recipe's counts.

I would agree with the others to switch to liquid sucralose (I use EZ-Sweetz from Netrition) rather than the packets. Why get extra carbs from the packets when you don't need them? The liquid is just as convenient.

WOW I'M SO STUPID. Never occurred to me that liquid is preferable. Of course. Like it better anyway than the powdery stuff.

To answer your question: 2-3 packets doesn't sound like you're OD'ing it. But diet sodas, SF chewing gum also count. You can't have them if you're already at the 3 artificial sweetener unit max per day -- in my own experience.

Where are people finding liquid sucralose in Canada? Anyone find some in stores or do I have to order online?

I'm currently sweetener-free because I'm reinducting. On my last journey, I used to have an espresso with HWC and 2 tsp powder Splenda in an afternoon coffee. This didn't impact my losses as long as I stayed away from extras like home made SF goodies, bars/shakes and diet sodas.

I can tolerate it much better than aspartame which stalls me every single time and gives me wicked sugar cravings.

Can you not get Amazon Orders in CAnada, because I've seen it on Amazon now. I don't know if the EZSweetz company mails to canada, but it might be worth a email to find out.

They sell it in Walmart stores now! The new dropper is a lot easier than the older one and doesn't seem to crust up as quickly.

ETA: just called the company EZSweetz, and the company doesn't directly ship international, but he said that orders "Fulfilled by Amazon" will ship internationally, so.... Yeah,Correction, Super Shipping is only 50 States, but it will be able to go international, don't know the rates, or if it would be cost prohibitive.
:dunno:

Metga - yes I can order online from Amazon or somewhere. Was hoping to find a local source. Will check Walmart - thanks for the tip.

metqa 09-11-2013 11:48 AM

I was so happy to find it in Walmart, Actually My Mother found it first, I was still ordering it online.

Biggy Fat 09-11-2013 12:02 PM

What brand is the liquid sucralose in Walmart?

metqa 09-11-2013 12:09 PM

EzSweetz, It looks like this:

I'm in Canada, and I order EZSweetz online.

Splenda... You know it's weird, whenever I drink Diet Rite or more than 1 serving of da Vinci syrup I have a crippling headache the next day, I can have Splenda water enhancers or EZSweetz without problems.

Aspartame is what's notorious for headaches but I can drink it until the cows come home and I am not symptomatic. But those Splenda headaches were unlike any other . The ones where you have earplugs in, sunglasses on, and almost vomit from the nausea.and it just laughs at painkillers.
I don't want to experience that again.

tinamanni 09-11-2013 02:40 PM

I ordered some liquid and will try. Maybe this will make me start to drop pounds (hahahaha yeah right!)

clackley 09-11-2013 03:54 PM

Canadian here - orders or picks up Ez-Sweetz from low carb grocery. They ship Canada post at reasonable rates and depending on where you are, might be a store close by.

Natalia 09-12-2013 05:54 PM

^^ Me too. In fact, about to place an order.
They're great, on point with pricing, expedient, no duty, and have rewards program!

Gonna stock up on da vinci's and some shirataki before it gets cold, as they have a shipping embargo once it gets colder for anything glass or suspended in water.

metqa 09-12-2013 06:49 PM

yeah, frozen shirataki is no good.it turns into rubberbands, literally
