Newbie...

Hello, as indicated I'm new here...

Dropped 30#s about 10 years ago thanks to low carb but have gained it back.

Last Monday I started back on the LC diet. Weighed 293.5# at the time. Today (5 days later ) I weighed 285.8.

Being a six foot tall guy with a decent amount of muscle I am concerned that I am losing muscle weight and not just fat stores (of which there are plenty) so I bought the Ketostix and they are showing negative for ketones....

I know I can be in ketosis without the Ketostix showing anything but I am afraid I am gonna lose muscle and not fat.

My diet consists of whatever sounds good that does not have carbs. Lots of meat some cheese and plenty of eggs etc. and salads.

Any advice or words of calm/ wisdom?

Well, cheese, eggs and salad do have carbs, so are you possibly eating more carbs than you think?
As for muscle, make sure you eat enough protein and fat and you should be fine

I am careful about the cheese intake. My salads are pretty good too. As for fat and protein, no problem there!

Also, I know a lot of my loss this week will be water even though I drink like 150oz a day. Guess I am just terrified to lose the wrong kind of weight.

Welcome! I just run on the treadmill and I'm seeing definition, even in my arms. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.
