Uneven usual weightloss

Have been on plan now for 5.5w. Not having much scale success, but am definately experiencing looser clothes, and feeling GREAT! Thing is...I'm clearly losing...but it's not going from the area that needs it most...my stomach. Puffy feet and ankles...gone, hand are slimmer, lower arms slimmer, face and neck slimmer...stomach....no visual change.....tell me it will start to go from there soon?!

I'm very insulin resistant I 'll lose everywhere except my lower abdomen. It will come off but I have to wait for it.

It sounds like you're off to a good start!

Fat is not usually going to come off evenly or where we want to lose it the most.

Take your measurements if you haven't already! Inches lost are a better indicator of fat-loss than the scale could ever be. Take progress pictures and they may help you see the changes.

It is difficult to see the changes in the mirror. Just keep watching & one day you'll see it. Then you'll find yourself spending way too much time looking in the mirror! That is what happened with me. lol...

I read a article not to long ago and it said, "The first area to gain weight is the last area to lose weight". That is what I am noticing with my journey. Although my abdomen is smaller, the majority of my fat is still there.

luckymuma 09-05-2013 06:34 PM

Ahhh thanks guys :) I'm normal :D rndiane, that make sense as yes, my tummy would have been the first to get bigger...all those years ago!

DiamondDeb :) thankyou! I am doing monthly measurements and in the first month did definitely loose alot from my stomach...but it looks no different to me :/

Thanks BecBelle, ok waiting...more waiting lol... It seems to go on so very fast huh!

depends on your age too. after a point, it's very hard to lose that abdominal fat. one of the things that happens as we age longer than our bodies were really intended to go!

When folks have water retention it usually shows first in puffy feet and ancles. I suspect that is what you are experiencing in reverse. Your clothes fitting better shows it is working, it will just take a bit longer for the scales to figure it out and join the downward trend.

Thanks Chuck41 :) I thought I had 'fat' feet lol, but it turns out it was water!

Ravenrose, I'm not yet 40....but it is comming off alot slower then when I did this 10years ago!

The same happened to me! I lost that full fat face and ankles first then everywhere else but my stomach where I needed it Most has been the hardest to get rid of. It's way better then it used to be but still gotta ways to go

I was told that even if we loose a lot of weight our stomach will always have some fat deposit that will not go away, even with exercise. Don't forget ladies that most of us have had children and the stomach muscle is not the same as when we were pre-children. Laser liposuction will help to rid of that extra pouch on the tummy but at my age who cares, I will not be wearing that yellow dot bikini. I just want it to fit. LOL

My belly is last to go too... So irritating!

Chuck41 09-06-2013 07:56 AM

I am one of the lucky ones. Since day one I could see the belly fat dissolving and the belt changing. Of course most of my excess weught was there too. Now the loss in my face is apparent as well and only a tiny bit in arms and legs. I suppose exercise helps for it to come from the most appropriate regions.

I didn't start losing noticeably in my stomach until I got under 200 lbs (from a high of 330). I'm guess that had more to do with finally being strict at low carbing in a way that dealt with my diabetes and lessened/reversed my insulin resistance.

Hang in there...you know that eventually, that belly fat is going to have to given/give up and go away!

baileygirl3 09-08-2013 04:25 AM

I am still working on my belly

luckymuma 09-08-2013 05:56 AM

Thankyou all so very much! Sounds like slow belly loss is an issue for many of us!

Romy, I am not aiming for the yellow bikini either lol. Actually would just like to wear normal size clothes!

I am shocked at those of you who look so slim and still have fat to loose on your bellies! Oh no :(

Melody, interesting about yours shifting once you OT under two hundred...it looms like a magical figure that number somehow!
