Okay can I do this?
I want to lose 80 by May 10....I think its 2 lbs a week or even 2.5 lbs a week. I wanna go on another cruise in may and Disney so I am wanting to be comfortable and really enjoy these trips and summer. And hopefully look younger. I am 40 now. I saw two friends the other day who lost a lot of weight and both look 5-10 yrs younger. I want that too. I am alllll excited about this..cant wait for this...Wish me luck, I work the night shift so its harder for me lately to eat better. I used to work days yrs ago and it was easier. Anyway, I am excited and hopefully can stay completely on track . :jumpjoy:

It's certainly possible but no one can say how probable. If you are eating LC it needs to be a lifetime commitment so you might as well enjoy the ride. I went on a cruise last March at 260 and had a great time, so don't let weight stop you from having fun. I am eating LC more for health benefits, though weight loss is a great side effect. But not focusing solely on weight means I realize it is not an option to go back to carbs even if the weight isn't coming off at a particular point in time.

I actually went on a cruise this past June after three months of low carbing and lost almost 40 pounds. Had tons of fun .Right after the cruise I completely fell off track and gained back 30...I want to stop the yo yo. Hubby and daughter are lowcarbing too. Its easier if we all eat the same

I would set smaller goals. If you make them quicker, that's even better!

The best thing is just TO START. The rest will follow.

I agree it's possible but not guaranteed. I'd set smaller goals as you go along. Just don't get discouraged if you slow down losing, just keep at it and you'll do Great!

You could state your goal as "looking and feeling my best for my May 10 cruise by adhering to my low carb plan every day."

I understand setting a goal weight and having a time frame, but it does put alot of pressure on you.
I would ask 'when you have set similar goals in the past, what was the outcome?
If they worked, then you will probably do it this time.
If they didn't then you are probably setting yourself up for failure.
Emel's suggestion is very wise.
Good luck.

It's doable, but that's a long way out. I agree with setting some more short-term goals to keep you on track during the journey. Do you have any other special events or milestones along the way?

For me, it helps me to celebrate the little successes, too. May and 80 lbs are a long way away. What can you use to help motivate you in the short term?

Night shift can be tough. I strongly recommend having a lot of prepared foods and bringing lots of healthy alternatives to work so you don't have to rely on picking up things on the go.

It's DEFINITELY doable. I've lost almost 80 pounds since February, so it is possible. However we all lose at different rates so just realize that as long as you stick to plan, even if you don't lose the full 80, you'll still be in a better and healthier place by May when you do take the cruise.

Sounds so fun!!

Things my husband enjoyed while lowcarbing on a wacky schedule of shift work:

--tuna salad or chicken salad with raw veggies to dip into it.
--devilled eggs
--whey protein shakes
--cold chicken, usually baked thighs
--crustless quiche
--cold meatloaf with reduced sugar ketchup mixed with mayo in a little cup, and then a couple big leaves of lettuce in a baggie to wrap it in.
--cheese sticks. Now he likes pepperoni sticks.

Thanks everyone. I want to feel good and fit on rides and not be big. My muscles feel achy today
