Atkins bars and shakes best by date

Does anyone know how long the bars and shakes are good for. I am gathering info for a friend who wants to keep some for adverse events like hurricaines ect.

Most of the ones I buy (usually from Walmart) are typically good for 9 months to 1 year. I got some shakes recently from Netrition that had a shorter expiration date, but it was still 5-6 months out.

Doesn't matter. I reach all the way into the back of the shelf to get the rotated stock and find the longest expiration date. Even doing this, sometimes the bars are tooth-shatteringly brittle and hard. That's one reason I stopped buying them. Shakes I would think would last at least a year.

She could probably freeze the bars until needed...the shakes I would have no clue...maybe better to have bottled water and protein powder on hand if it has a longer life span...You would have to check.
