Mea culpa to the BPC'ers

I will admit that I thought all you people who drank BPC for breakfast instead of eating an actual meal were kind of nuts. I mean, seriously, why would I 'drink' 200 calories of fat without any protein? However, I was looking for something to do for breakfast (didn't feel like eating) since I've given up my EAS protein shakes as I've nailed down some of my BG fluctuations to these 3 carb drinks (due to the AS or the 17gm protein? ) so I thought I'd try it.

The thought of butter and coconut oil floating on my coffee though was kind of grossing me out. I use half and half because I find whipping cream to be too greasy. However, I read on some internet site that if I stick my coffee in the blender with the KerryGold and the coconut oil, it will emulsify it.

Holy guacamole, batman! This was the most luxurious thing I've had in months! I'm guessing the KerryGold doesn't hurt (since this stuff is so awesome I could eat it with a spoon ), but who knew!? I had my coffee 7 hours ago and I'm just now feeling the need to eat something! Normally, at 4.5-5 hours, I'm getting ready to eat.

Yep blending it up does the trick and if the coconut oil has flavor to it it makes it taste like coconut cream coffee...yum.

Roger that...definitely have to use a blender. I tried it a year ago just stirring in the butter and mct oil. Blick. Left my lips all slick and shiny.

But tried it again several months ago, this time in the blender and Yes, M'am! I have no desire to ever go back to coffee with cream. It's weird how emulsifying it changes everything about it

LOL. I too did a "mea culpa" on BPC a couple months ago. It sounded terrible to me, and I used to think to myself when reading about it, no way, there are limits to what I'll do for this woe!

Then one day, I decided to try it. Thought I needed more fat in my woe, and didn't like fat bombs. From my first taste, I couldn't believe how good it was. I use butter, coconut oil, cream and a dash of splenda, or sometimes a vanilla SF sweetner. To me it tastes like an expensive and carb laden fancy coffee drink---the white chocolate one that was always my fave.

I find BPC a great breakfast, because eating never appeals to me in the morning.

Yes, I always add 1/4 tsp of cinnamon because cinnamon helps lower blood glucose.

That's what I was thinking. Any recommendations on adding it before or after brewing?

I got on the BPC bandwagon this week. I adore the taste and the thick creamy feel of it (when emulsified...if not, then no LOL). However as an appetite suppressant it doesn't do much. I still eat my 2 egg omelet and bacon because if I don't, I'm hungry within a couple of hours of awakening. Not starving, but can definitely put away a breakfast.

HOWEVER, coffee in the good old days used to wreak havoc on my blood sugar. I'm hypoglycemic. Since doing the BPC, those symptoms are gone, so there's that progress. In another thread after posting sample menus, I was told I definitely need to up the fat content, and this certainly does the job

I put it in when I run it through the blender. Blue Skies, when I first started adding cinnamon, I was shocked at how much of a difference it made. They actually warn people whose BG is close to normal, particularly if they're hypoglycemic, since it could cause them to crash.

I sometimes add cinnamon to the grounds before brewing. Not always, but I like the flavor on occasion.

I use a $20 frother from BB&B to emulsify my bulletproof tea or coffee. Simpler to clean than a blender, just a quick rinse under hot water.

It is great stuff. But, heavy cream is almost as good and a lot easier to mix up. Also, less to clean. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy your BPC!

I use both.

Tea or coffee with HWC plus butter or coconut oil and a drop of sweetzfree liquid Splenda is delicious.

I just dump the mixture into a bowl and mix it on high with a hand mixer LOL....I don't own a blender (it's on my wish list) and while I do have an espresso machine, the frother thingy doesn't work anymore

How much butter and coconut oil to a large cup of coffee with HWC?

I may get brave enough to try this...

I use a tablespoon of each but if you aren't used to CO, you might want to start with less.

I use 1.5 oz Kerry Gold and 1-2 T MCT, vanilla, and splenda. I always felt like something was missing until I changed to 1 oz Kerry Gold and 0.5 oz salted Kerry Gold. Perfect.

I use 2 Tbs kerry (salted I think) to 250gm of coffee (what the BPC site recommends). More coffee and it's just not as rich...less coffee and it's too greasy for me.

8.8...so about (since coffee would weigh like water) 1 and 3/4 cup.

Google helps with converting measurements, if you're ever confused.

I do 8oz. coffee, 60 grams heavy cream(about 4 tbsp) and 28 grams(about 2 tbsp) Kerrygold butter and a few drops of Numaturals vanilla liquid stevia. This is absolutely the best drink ever. I can't stand the thoughts of buying Starbucks since I started drinking this for much cheaper at home.

For those of you doing BPC, what actual ingredients are you using? Which coffee? (is it upgraded?) Which butter? (I see many of you use kerrygold). Which coconut oil (do any of you use upgraded mct oil?)

Those who say it's not filling for you and you still have to eat breakfast, I'd especially like to know the exact ingredients you're using.

BTW, I haven't tried BPC yet. It's on the way though. I ordered the upgraded coffee and mct oil yesterday.

With 1/4 cup of HWC and 2T butter , you're rivaling the calorie counts of a strawberries and cream with whip!
Thank goodness it's LC!

I use Dunkin Donuts cuz I don't like any other coffee. I use Kerrygold butter because I like the flavor, although while visiting my sister the last couple days I forgot to take it so I used her virgin coconut oil. Good, but interesting to drink coffee with a coconut aftertaste.

Just FYI...there is no such thing as an 'upgraded' MCT. It is either MCT...or it is not. MCT is c8/c10 fatty acids and glycerol and a specific mixture. Anything else means they're diluting it, adding/taking away something, etc...which means it is no longer MCT oil.
