fun thread

regular bacon (too salty; I do love fresh pork side, and low sodium bacon is alright)

big chunks or whole avocado (a tiny amount eaten with sashimi or on salad is fine)

celery

raw tomato... worst food ever

oopsie rolls

there are a bunch of things that I don't love... but these... I hate

I really disliked the shirataki noodles, I washed and washed and washed and STILL there was a fishiness. I really don't miss noodles much anyway but a while back folks were really into these.

That's pretty much me! Except liver. Hated it as a kid. Thought maybe I'd grown out of it, tried it once as an adult. Ugh!!!

I'm enjoying seeing everyone's responses! Good thread!

I'm not a big fan of the one minute muffin either. It tastes too eggy to me. I have tried to like pork rinds and I just can't.

This is exactly my problem, and I can't understand why some people hate various foods: Eggs? Love 'em. Could easily eat 6 in a meal. Have an omelet most mornings. Avocados? Food of the gods. Cauliflower? Love it roasted; terrific mashed with celery root (and cheese!); pureed, it is very useful as a soup thickener. Pork rinds? Just don't sniff the bag when you first open it... then they are a great source of crunch and method of dip delivery.

I'll second the Liver exclusion, but then I love pate (just not the chicken liver kind).

I won't say I hate it, but I don't understand the appeal of peanut butter. I was allergic to it as a kid, but outgrew the allergy long ago. I can eat it, but don't understand why people go crazy about it. Seems to me they ruin a bunch of otherwise perfectly good chocolate desserts.

Other things on my Take It or Leave It list (I mostly leave it):
Pizza
Chinese food
Mac and Cheese

I thought of another LC mainstay I don't like..
Laughing cow cheese. Yuck!
No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Yes, coconut flour. It swells up in my throat, gagging me. I've wondered if it could kill me.

I'm not a lover of the coconut. The flour, the oil, the milk. I also can't do steak, meat with veins, meat that looks like meat. It grodes me out. I try to avoid lard, because it's too heavy and makes food feel humid and heavy. I avoid soy, wheat, eggplant, peppers, most dairy, most sweeteners, peanuts, and broccoli. No, I'm not picky or anything...

Sardines--yuck
Eggs--unless they are cleverly disguised in one of Linda Sue's quiches.

My food dislikes really aren't low-carb related. I've never EVER liked condiments: mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise or pickles. So you will never see a recipe on my website with any of those ingredients. I dislike them so much, I can't even stand to smell them! At age 64, I can't even appreciate a recipe if they are an ingredient and don't join in the discussion of said recipes.

Around age 40, my brother the chef taught me to make homemade mayo and I LOVED it! I have learned to eat smooth, creamy homemade mayo in all its lusciousness on sandwiches, in dips and in recipe cooking. Still hate the stuff that comes in a jar though.

I just quickly read through this thread and didn't see flax listed anywhere. I've sworn to myself I'll never buy another bag of flax again. It gets wasted around here. I hate the slimy mouth feel of it, especially in muffins.

I also never "got" the Revolution or Oopsie type rolls. They're all eggy tasting to me, and I LOVE eggs.....just not like that spongy thing.

I never liked pork rinds or cauliflower before low carb, but I've developed a taste for them now. Ground pork rinds are a good filler for meatloaf instead of bread crumbs, and Linda Sue's Pork Rind Pizza Crust is awesome. I've learned to eat cauliflower in several different ways, but almost anything tastes good smothered in cheese, lol!

lolol. I'm half your age and none of that was ever appealing to me either. The color makes it look weird. Then the smell is just repulsive.

I can NOT eat tuna.

That means tuna salad and by association, chicken salad, ham salad, or any other "salad" prep.

And olives.

I think that " Shirataki Noodles " are the nastiest things ever made.
Washed and washed and dried them a dozent times and still were like chewing on a bunch of rubber bands, tasted like it too. I rather spend that money on some good meat.

Cilantro, Ricotta only can hand a tiny bit in zucchini lasagna (its a texture thing) flax breads is another odd texture thing for me. Most everything else I have no issue with that I can think of off hand.
