I've Missed you all (I used to be Scandalouslyglam..)

Good morning!! If the Title is a bit cryptic, I used to be a very active member here and my User ID was: Scandalouslyglam

It's been toooo long, but I am back! It's been a whirlwind year...Actually more like a Cyclone.

In January I found a New job for a Visiting Nurse Organization, Love it!! Things were going so well, It's a tough position, but I am loving the challenge. My daughter is a really great 15year old, I couldn't ask for a better kid, she's had learning difficulties but works so hard to succeed. Things were Idyllic. We had plans to refi our circa 1940's home April 23 for a better rate, shorten the length of our mortgage and Install new energy efficient windows. But then...

April 20th we had a tragedy. At 4am My husband and I (our daughter was away for the weekend) awoke to a Loud boom...I jumped out of bed and looked outside, Our Garage was ablaze!! We scurried around thinking it could be put out via an extinguisher, when my husband opened the kitchen door that leads to the garage, it was like an inferno. I threw on my robe and a pair of shoes by the door, grabbed my handbag and ran outside. My husband was barefoot and only in pajama pants.

I quickly dialed 911. I also noticed my car that was parked in front of the garage was in danger of igniting...I jumped in it and moved it across our street. The firefighters arrived and worked very, very hard.

Our Home was a total loss. We lost everything, even the car that I so quickly moved away, the bumper had been melted. We even lost our two beloved kitties....

So, I have been away, however I am back...things are going better, better everyday. We have plans to rebuild on our lot. The new foundation should be dug in a couple weeks.

Now, since life was so out of control, I am back to get a handle on my diet. I haven't done so bad in the gaining weight department, but I feel lousy. Ive been drinking too much and eating processed junk.

Thanks for listening!!

Thank you for the warm Welcome back! I am a very optimistic person, and it has truly been difficult through all of this. I am ready to start driving my bus again instead of being along for the ride.

What a traumatic experience! So sorry for you losses. So glad to see you here and ready to "drive" instead of being a passenger. I love that analogy. I too have come to points in my life where I realize I've allowed myself to be a passenger and therefore can't be surprised when I'm not going where I want to go. Best of luck to you, and look forward to seeing you here, watching and supporting as you begin to drive!

My husband is an Avid fan of Volkswagen Beetles...he had many engines in various states of re-build. Along with the engines and parts and he had various cans of accelerants and other things needed to make the engines and their pieces go together. Arson was ruled out and the Fire is said to have started near the back of the garage by combustion. We fortunately have TREMENDOUS insurance folks on our side and they have guided us through this process and truly advocated for us to get top dollar for our home and possessions. Our families and friends, neighbors and even strangers kindness has been overwhelming. We are truly blessed in many ways, I never would have known how much so had we not lost everything.
