Burn more fat on low carb?

I just read an interesting article on Live Science. Didn't post the site because I couldn't figure out if they sell something or not. :dunno:

Anyway, here are a few quotes:

"Researchers found that overweight people burned 350 more calories a day, on average, when they ate a low-carbohydrate diet, than when they ate a low-fat diet. That's an amount equal to one hour of moderate physical activity, without lifting a finger," said Dr. David S. Ludwig, lead author of the study published tomorrow (June 27) in the Journal of the American Medical Association. "

"The researchers also found that people burned 150 more calories more a day when they ate a diet of low-glycemic index foods, when compared with a low-fat diet."

And yet, people still try and tell us this is unhealthy and we should be eating low fat.

Don't blame them, Aomiel.

They learned their misinformation from every media outlet and Every.Single.Health and wellness organization that is supposed to be impartial, and current on studies .

We know there's a problem when even the Diabetes Association tells us to eat low fat and "healthy whole grains".

Sounds like this is evidence for "300 calorie advantage" of low carb eating?

That is exactly what I thought of, too!

I still read comments on (other) fitness sites that claim all one loses on a LC plan is water weight. lol...

I also read countless comments that "all calories are created equal" and it doesn't matter where one's calories come from because it is simply a matter of "calories in, calories out."

I do the right thing & don't even try to correct them. I'm fine with keeping it our little secret. :D

I heard a story on NPR today about how some number of obese people were put in a group that ate 3 meals a day, another group of obese people ate the SAME number of calories, and did the SAME amount of exercise, but didn't eat b'fast. The b'fast eaters lost significantly more weight than the non-b'fast eaters. (Cracked me up since I NEVER eat b'fast. lol) Then someone said, "oh so it's good to eat bacon and eggs and toast and butter..." and the reported said, "ah well, it still comes down to calories, calories out."

Hmmmmm.... wasn't the story all about the fact that it is not really about calories in, calories out?
