Confession!

Okay folks - time to confess a low carb indiscretion or two. I'm usually bang on plan with food choices, but today I had several tablespoons too much of heavy whipping cream (I'm doing extended induction, so pretty strict - and I made three iced coffees instead of my usual one per day) and I ate two ounces of the beef barbecue I made my family. It didn't have much sauce on it, about a tablespoon total (max). But it wasn't on plan, either.

I was closer to 28 net carbs instead of my normal 10-15 today

It's all about progress, and in the scheme of things it's a pretty weak 'off plan' confession, but I feel better just getting it out there. Onward march!

Anyone else have a less than perfect day?

Funny you mention this today, it was the first day I made a conscious choice to taste a carb food which I haven't done in about 3.5 months. I had 4 bites of hash browns. I kind of felt crappy a little later. Not sure if it had anything to do with it, but I'll use it as an excuse not to have empty carbs again.

I was hoping that you were gonna tell us that you stepped on the scale bc I know you're not supposed to for a while (in the fall sometime?). I'm on pins and needles on that one. I think my life is not exciting enough.

I have, and this is not my usual as of late, been completely spot on perfect on my plan!!! Can you tell I'm proud of myself? But I also recently I creased my use of HWC by a fair amount and had a whoosh right after I increased, so maybe that will be a win for you. And I don't think a little dab of BBQ is gonna do you any harm.

If this is an off day for you, then you don't need any of my advice.

Yay Jayne! I'm glad you've been on plan without issue. WOOHOO!

And I am dying to get on the scale, but given how lazy I've been on keeping my calories on target I'm a bit terrified I haven't lost much. Nursing can make sticking to a calorie budget tough. Still, I fully intend to be strong at LEAST to August 28th. I'm taking a trip to see my family in California and may weigh before I go, since I'm sure my mom will be grilling me over how much I've lost and I'd like to put a number back on it.

But yeah, no caving before then. My husband hid that scale WELL and refuses all cajoling to reveal its whereabouts

Oh man, for me this is pretty bad. I can count the number of times on one hand I have caved in an unplanned way, at least with a non-plan food. Calories are another matter, but I really enjoy my way of eating enough that licks, tastes, or half servings of any off plan item are extremely rare

Cool! I will be waiting for the results on aug 28!

I bet you're dabbling in the BBQ bc of the nursing. How old is she now?

It's so rarely worth it

The longer I do this the less tempting those things are. Stay strong!

Ooooh, confession time!

I love corned beef hash. On Sunday we went to a diner and my husband got corned beef hash and eggs. The hash was all crispy, just like I like it. So I had a forkful. I don't count carbs, I just do not eat what is not on the acceptable lists and I don't make substitutions, so this was a big no-no for me.

There, I feel better.

Arctic_Mama, your lapse will not derail you. It was quite minor. And the fact that you are conscious that it was a lapse just proves how strong and committed you are.

Sorry Arctic_Mama, that's not a very big confession, I wanted something really juicy!

My confession is I ate over 50 g carbs yesterday (56 to be exact). I almost always stay under 50 g total, usually 20-40. But I had 22 g fiber and even (gasp) a few grams of erythritol in there from a sugar-free chocolate bar. So I guess my net carbs were ok.

I had an apple with some peanut butter. Real peanut butter, not that sugarless stuff.

Haha! Everyone has a confession, it seems. We're not perfect, after all

I bought a precooked barbecue chicken leg and thigh yesterday by mistake.
I rinsed them off and ate them. Never thought I would get to the point of rinsing cooked meat. On Sunday though I sliced a ripe banana and ate two slices. I froze the rest thinking I didn't want to throw away. Maybe I should. My husband is the banana eater (really he shouldn't be) and he is out town all week.
