Eating out is pretty easy. Just make good choices. Most restaurants will give extra veggies instead of the starchy foods listed as coming with an enter.

I just heard a radio commercial today for Which Wich subs advertising how you can make any sub low carb with a lettuce wrap.

The squeaky wheel usually does get a response from my experience.

Thanks, that's good to know. They used to do only a "lettuce bowl" which was huge amount of shredded lettuce topped with your sandwich fixings. I didn't like it when I tried it. I always go to Jimmy John's instead, might give Which Wich a shot again if they are doing lettuce wraps now.

Just as a warning -- I had a slice of the cheesecake factory's LC cheesecake today and YUCK. Was supposed to be sweetened w Splenda but it must've been full of malt it'll bc the total carbs, it turns out, are 37. And it tasted funky.

Well, if you read my post from a few weeks ago, I did complain, and got what I wanted by threatening to go to TGIF..... but there, I knew they wanted to charge me a lot extra, and I mean a LOT extra..... this one I didn't even know til the bill came, and I happened to not be in a complaining mood that day.... LOL, those days are far and few......

I 100% agree that the veggies probably cost less than the bun. I shake my head at restaurant owners who have a policy, even if it makes no sense.... why would you anger a customer over 25 cents, especially when the bill for the table was about $30? But some places do.

I've had a few items from the hidden Menu. The salads are good.

Nothing on their regular menu fits my definition of "healthy choice."

Now, I was upset, but I didn't ask for the charges to be removed, though I did tell the owner that if you are going to charge $1.50 more, then the waiter or waitress needs to tell people that before they send that order to the kitchen.....

That said, it was one heckuva good burger, and I put a mustard / mayo mix on it, which has become my favorite condiment mix, now that I am really limiting ketchup. ( even the low sugar one, because it is so dang expensive )
I have always been the leave off this / add this type, even before I went low carb. I guess I am just used to the extra charges. Every place I go to charges for what I add, but they never take off for whatever I leave off. I expect to get charged more.

What a great idea. I bet our local Thai place would do that if I asked.

I finally went to the one here & the Unwich was good but I need to request double protein on the next one. There was not much turkey in my Unwich. But definitely worth going again.

If you get the higher numbers (listed as "giant club sandwiches") on the menu they automatically come with double the meat. For exam I get the #16 Club Lulu, it comes with turkey AND bacon (something like 5 pieces of bacon), which is considered double meat. Or you get get a lower number sandwich and just ask for double meat, and they'll charge you extra for it.

Also, if you get one of the higher number unwiches at Jimmy John's, you get 4 pieces of provolone for that extra protein. You can also get extra vegetables for no additional charge.

I have similar experiences at Cracker Brarrel. They have a low carb breakfast on their menu that includes toast. I ask for extra slices of tomato instead and they never charge extra for that. Most other places here will give you a sandwich without bun, but don't substitute anything else without extra charge.

There are tons of restaurants around here that have gluten free options. Most of those options consist of replacing wheat products with vegetables . With the exception of chinese food, i find it hard to find a restaurant that does not have low carb options. I am not sure if restaurants really need a separate menu that specifies low carb.

Now chain restaurants that go low car..... Houlihans has low carb Cali mash
Chills also has low carb menu I think ....

I was suprised to find that Panda Express has failry low carb options. They have steamed veggies you can get instead of the rice or chow mein, they have string bean chicken and also black pepper chicken and Kung Pao Chicken.

I have eaten all of them and they dont cause me any issues. I looked at their nutrition value online and its not bad for those 3 dishes. Anywhere from 10-13carbs.

Yes! I just saw today that the Red Robin near me opened for business 2 days ago! I will be looking forward to ditching the bun and extra salad veggies. I was near it at lunch and thought it would be PACKED..... not so much.

So wait... If you order nachos without chips, that would leave you with a very small portion, wouldn't it? The chips are the cheap part. But yeah, nachos are awesome..... I may make them this week without the chips.

Ate at local Ruby Tuesday today. Not my favorite but they have a number of low carb entrees including a "pasta" option with spaghetti squash instead of noodles. I had a shrimp, lobster and crab cake entree with green beans and salad bar. Pretty tasty.

So we went to Red Robin tonight and it was a wonderful experience to just have salad instead of fries. They actually have the substitution on the menu, so there is no issue about whether they will do it or not.

Garlic, about the nachos, you'd be surprised. People always comment how I get the better part of the deal with my chipless nachos because they actually give me more of the "good" stuff like the meat and cheese. I think they don't want to cheat me since the chips are the bulk of the dish otherwise. It comes out like a very hearty taco salad. But I am a regular at the place where I order this, so that could factor into it.
