CNN article about couple putting food on a diet....sounds like low carb to me
So CNN posted an article about a couple losing weight by and I quote

to rely on their training as chemical engineers. They began tinkering with recipes to see if they could reduce the calorie counts of their favorite foods.
Now reading the article. Sounds ALOT like they went low carb...

That's funny...it clearly states that they replaced/ "minimized" carbs to replace with healthier veggie based options, yet the reporter concludes it was swapping higher calories with lower ones. Normally that would be a semantics issue, but clearly in this instance it is not.
Like low carb is a bad word in some way.

They look great.

Sigh. More low calorie propaganda.

Seriously, how is this NOT low carb?

They reinvented many of their favorite dishes, such as mashed potatoes, substituting cauliflower for the potatoes. They traded the white rice in chicken stir-fry for high-fiber pita wraps. They even replaced the pasta in baked spaghetti with a self-invented broccoli slaw.
I remember my boss mentioned to me that they had done a study of diets - I think it was Weight Watchers low fat, South Beach and Atkins - and that South Beach "won." But when I read the article, it was clear that Atkins "won" - more weight lost, better adherence, better health indicators - but for one comment in the article from a medical professional about cardiovascular concerns associated with increased fat intake.

Which as we are learning, are unfounded concerns. But there was no counterpoint to that comment.

This stuff frustrates me.
