LowCarb Bars

I am needing info on low carb bars. I really want something that tastes great for my husbands sake. He loves to drink coffee and eat bars in the morning. If you are eating a bar on a regular basis, it tastes great, and its not causing you to gain weight, please share your choice. Thank you!

The Only ones i've found that don't stall me are the caramel nut ones from Aldis. I Love the fudge nut brownie Atkins bars but they stall me like crazy!

I know there are a lot of differing opinions about them, but I really like the original Quest bars. The newer flavors have erythritol, which is fine I suppose, but I like the sugar alcohol free ones the best. They have 20 gm protein, 4-5 net carbs (17 gm fiber). I think they taste fine and I've never had any trouble eating them.

Seconding the Quest Bars in original or natural flavors. Both lines are good and don't taste any different, as most of the sweetening seems to be the oligosaccharides (a fiber like inulin). They are textured rather like the original Power Bars, chewy and sticky. Buy a few individual bars to try out first because they are pretty expensive and you'll want to test out some flavors before committing a lot of money (PB&J yum, Apple not so much but others seem to like it). Netrition lets you order singles.

Thirding Quest bars. I don't eat them much anymore but when I first started they helped me with my sweet tooth. I had no glycemic effect. The peanut butter flavor reminds me of Payday bars. I liked the chocolate brownie too.

I noticed you can buy them at GNC now, FWIW.

I finally found a store that sells Quest bars. Which flavors are the best? They are expensive so I don't want to get yucky ones!

My husband eats 1 caramel nut Atkins bar per day and he has not had any issues with his weight loss. I don't care for them myself but he says they taste like candy bars.

I also vote for the Quest Bars. I buy them for dh, and he uses them "in a pinch".

His current favorites are
- Banana Nut Muffin
- Apple Pie
- Coconut

If you check out Netrition, you'll see all the flavors listed. (I like to give them a plug, since they support the site).

My fave Quest Bars are:

Cinnamon Roll
PB&J
PB & Chocolate

My mother likes the brownie flavor, but they taste funky to me.

Lemon are pretty good, but I only want one occasionally. Same with Cashew Coconut.

Not at all fond of the Strawberry, Vanilla Nut Crunch or especially the Apple.

I'm really looking forward to trying the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (finally was able to order those today!).

After reading this post I went to GNC, there is one right next door to my work. They were having a sale, buy 2 get 1 free on the Quest bars, same sale for even the entire boxes!

So I picked out 3 flavors, the dude behind the counter talked me into getting the choc chip cookie dough, said it was a best seller and his fav, yuck, I didnt like it.

So I next tried the Lemon, that is very yummy!! I also purchased the Cinnamon Roll which he tried to talk me out of, said it wasnt very good, but I like it! It has a very buttery taste to it.

Its very funny how everyones tastes are different though. The one he loved I didnt like!

I couldnt even eat a whole bar, got filled up quickly!! I am interested to see how long it keeps me full. If these do the trick I may go back and purchase some more while they are still on sale.

I will check out GNC on Saturday but it is right near the other store that has the bars so either way I can't make it down there during the week. I found them to be pricey but I don't mind trying them if they're worth it.

Mostly they all taste pretty good. Pay attention to carb counts if you are in induction or OWL. They range from 1-6 carbs per bar.

SUPREME PROTEIN WAFER CRUNCH

I've tried a lot of "low carb" protein bars over the years, and this brand, hands down -- esp this flavor -- is my absolute favorite. It's like CRACK. I LOVE THESE BARS!

Always travel with them so that I'll have a convenient option for a quick meal.

Netrition carries them, as does Walmart. This is the only protein bar that my gym sells. They're that good!

I am excited to try the Quest Bars, I just picked up the varieties without sugar alcohols at GNC yesterday.

I am hoping that they are similar to the original Atkins Advantage bars - back in the day when the DIDN'T have sugar alcohols in them (my favorites used to be the brownie bar and the pb chocolate. They really did control cravings for me while keeping me losing, but I can't bring myself to eat the formula out there now.

I just looked at GNC's website and it looks like they also sell the Supreme Protein bars, at least online, I am going to walk over to the store on my break and take a look inside the store and see if I can buy them, would like to try at least one and compare it to the Quest bars I bought the other day and see which one I think is better.

ok I just got back from GNC and they do sell the Supreme Protein bars in the store. I got the Chocolate Caramel Cookie Crunch, can I just say YUMMMM. Taste like I am eating a candy bar.

It does have sugar alcohols though. 17 carbs with 9 of those being sugar alcohols. This one is about half the size of the other ones they were selling. Only a couple of the flavors were labeled as carb conscious, so be careful which flavor you grab!

Never saw a Quest bar. Have used Atkins and other sugar alcohol bars and all caused stalls and drop out of ketosis. Make my own "fat bombs" using cocoa, cocconut oil and splenda or truvia. Works much better. Will look for Quest bars next time I find myself in a place that might carry them.

I just had my first Quest Bar - Chocolate Brownie. It lists 24 grams carbs and 19 grams fiber with no sugar alcohols.

These DO remind me of the original 'non-sugar alcohol' Atkins Advantage bar in the brownie version!!! So happy, but I like these even more because they are soooo chewy and dense...chewy is so satisfying to me. They are not super sweet which is fine with me, and they certainly fill the void! These will be great to have on hand/in a pinch.

Just bought a bunch of Quest bars at GNC and they are currently on sale (buy 2 get 1 free) so they ended up being less than $2 each. I'm going on a business trip so it will be nice to have them on the plane and in my hotel room. Hope they are as yummy as everyone says!

Alright - I am that person who takes a bite out of each to see what I like so I have tried them all at this point. I have only actually eaten a few whole ones. I was away for 3 days so it worked perfectly to help me stay on track during the drive. I think I am noticing a pattern between the "original line" and the others - the other line has added sugar alcohols and seems to make me feel funky, though I don't think there's an impact on my blood sugar. Once these are gone I will stick with the original line - those are the ones that taste the best to me anyway.

I was away and a little off so I can't tell if they have an impact on my weight loss. I don't intend to eat a whole one every day - I seem satisfied with a bite here and there so I will only use as needed. I don't do great with nuts and that seems to be a lot of the ingredients. I will monitor the impact - though I would guess they will

Here's the order I liked the flavors from the bites I had:

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (original) omg so good!
Peanut Butter and Jelly (original) tastes like a sandwich to me
Chocolate Brownie (original) best warmed
Banana Nut Muffin
Apple Pie (original)
Chocolate Peanut butter
Peanut Butter Supreme (original)
Vanilla Almond Crunch (original)
Coconut Cashew
Strawberry Cheesecake
Mixed Berry Bliss (original)
Cinnamon Roll
Lemon Cream Pie

I use Atkins very occasionally. They do not send my blood sugar spiraling like some of the others out there (have not tried Quest yet). I do not eat them every day though. I take them when we go on a trip and are staying with someone else. That way, if they serve me a meal of all carb (pasta, for example), I can eat the salad, push the carbs around on my plate and then sneak off for a bar to fill me up. I also carry them to competitions my daughter performs at because there are often very few choices at the concession stands I can have. I could get a hot dog and throw away the bun at almost any of them, but why pay $4 for a hot dog that tastes kind of gross when I can stash a bar and some nuts in my purse instead?

If he likes a mild coconut taste, you might also want to try making some fat bomb/bars for him. Use EVCO, nuts, nut butter, sf chocolate etc. I have even added sunflower seeds for that salty/sweet combo. I keep these in the freezer and grab one when I need a quick snack or haven't gotten enough fat in. There are a lot of different recipes. You just have to the find the one you like best.
