Pork rinds not cooked in vegetable oil

I don't mind the occasional pork rind but I am trying to eliminate vegetable oils and all trans fats from my diet.

I can only find two brands here in Australia - Gold Medal and Nobbys - and they are both full of bad oils.

Are there brands in the US which don't have vegetable oil and/or trans fat?? (I was thinking if I can find a brand I could source an online supplier).

Many thanks

Interesting question. I know some local stores fry them in lard, but I'm not sure about bigger brands.

Hmm. I use the Rudy's brand and the ingredients list just says pork rinds and salt. No mention of any oil. You might contact them to find out what oils they use. Search "Rudolph Foods" in Ohio to get their contact info.

Old Dutch . . . all I've been able to source locally.
Ingredients: Pork Rinds, salt. Manufactured in St. Paul, MN.
They are called "Bac'n Puffs." I've found both plain and spicey.
I don't like the spicey enough to buy again, but the plain are pretty good imo.
The label says 0 carb, 230 mg sodium, 5g fat, and 8g protein per 14 gram (1/2 ounce) serving.
Someone recommended these, Blue Skies if I remember correctly.
I tend to consume too many, so I'll save this treat for travel or other special situations.

I like to order pork skin from my butcher and make them myself (I cut the skin into strips with scissors and roast them on a rack in the oven for 20 - 25 mins) - you also get a ton of yummy lard to cook with after

Netrition used to carry microwave pork skins in a few different flavors. You just put as many as you wanted in a paper bag in the microwave and they puffed up fresh and hot. They could be kept in the fridge until you needed them. Haven't checked for awhile, so don't know if they still carry them. Do a google search for microwave pork rinds, and you should be able to find some.

I received a response to my e-mail to Rudolph Foods concerning Rudy's Pork Skins. They fry them in pork lard. They are really good.

I buy the Rudolph's brand at Walmart, though not all Walmarts carry them.

Thanks all

I can't seem to find anyone to ship to Australia. It might be a quarantine issue?? Will have to investigate further....

I buy Rudy's Pork rinds at Big Lots. They don't always have them, so when they do I stock up with 6 - 8 bags at a time. The plain come in a royal blue bag, and the flavoured (forgot which kind) in a purple bag.
