Just an observation

There is nothing on this green earth that cannot be improved with bacon grease. Or butter. Or both. Nuff said.

If you're a person who saves your bacon fat (and I hope you are!) then next time you make guacamole add a splash of bacon fat (warmed up to liquid) into it and revel in the deliciousness. Sooooo good!

True that:up:

Hmmm...I had never thought of that. And I'm making fajitas this weekend.;)

Yup, I do save bacon grease. I fry up a lb of cheap bacon on the weekends just for that purpose. Well, that and bacon bits. Love those too.

True dat!
Your post reminded me of times I spent fly fishing for trout in the Catskill mountains of New York. My buddy and I would 4 wheel drive into some pretty remote places. We would pack some eggs, bacon and butter, salt and pepper with some aluminum foil. We would fish catch and release for a while, but when we got hungry we would start keeping them. After a while we would build a little fire on the rocky shore, clean and wrap the fish in the foil with some butter, salt and pepper.
Using our camp frying pan we would cook up the bacon. The trout, buried in the embers would be half cooked and we would fry them the rest of the way in the bacon grease.
Scramble some eggs in the bacon grease/trout drippings and eat.
Man it was heaven.
Thanks for bringing back some of the best memories of my life.
