Net Carbs
Do you subtract fiber grams from your carb counts for the day? And those if you that stay around 20-30 carbs per day, do you not eat any vegetables? I'm having a hard time with that one. They are so filling and help to keep things...um... moving ...if you catch my drift ;) I try to stick with very low starch veggies like cauliflower and I can eat 3 cucumbers a day easily. I love those things.

I eat about 20 carbs per day and subtract all fiber. I eat a lot of celery, peppers and cucumbers for lunch and often cabbage, asparagus, green beans, etc for dinner

I subtract fiber but I rarely get to 20 net carbs.
I eat somewhat freely of salad/raw veggies that are lowest in carbs, and then I might have one modest portion of higher carb veg such as green beans. Today it is 1/2 cup of pumpkin,so my other choice is 2 cups raw spinach to make up for the relatively high carb count in the pumpkin.

If you can eat your cuke and cauli and lose weight, then I'd say go for it. However, 3 large cukes plus 2 cups raw cauli is 28 total carbs and 18 net carbs, so there's no room for cheese and eggs and other things that add trace amounts of carbs.

I do deduct fiber carbs, but I still stay below twenty total carbs per day. I do eat veggies, I just don't eat a ton. I eat mostly the dark green leafy and cruciferous veggies, like kale, spinach, cabbage, bok choy, greens (collards, Swiss chard, mustard), Brussels sprouts and broccoli. I eat moderate amounts of those that are higher in carbs, like onions, tomatoes, and peppers (sweet and hot), using them as flavor additions rather than foundation veggies.

I also eat some dairy and eggs, so the twenty grams goes quickly, but I don't feel deprived.

I subtract. Having restarted I am staying below net 20
