Atkins Book
Which is your favorite Atkins book; and why?

I've read '72 & '92 and liked both, but preferred '92.
Have since given them both away and want to get another one to (re)read.

Thanks in advance!

I am dedicated to the original, 1972 version. Simple and easy.

'72 is a good simple plan, but I like DANDR better because it allows you to add foods back in as you progress. I"m not a fan of the current version, the one with subtracting sugar alcohols and allowing all the bars and stuff.

The tricky part for me, and a good reason for me to reread DANDR, is how to add foods back in on OWL. Also, as I just mentioned in another thread, I'm not a fan of some of the oils allowed on DANDR, so I stick with olive oil mostly. And then I try to pay attention to more recent science, too, such as the coconut oil thing, and leptin, and the realization that not all fluid has to come from pure water, but that pure water is still really good for moving stuff out of your cells and digestive tract.

I mention the water thing because I've seen it used as a dealbreaker for staying on plan. IMO, if someone can't get in a half a gallon of water daily, it is still good to stay on plan and then use weak iced tea, seltzer with lemon, and the occasional diet soda (but the cola ones aren't very good for you)

I am a fan of the '92 version as that is the first low carb book I had ever read and it stuck with me. I remember at the time, thinking that it read like a novel.

I like all of the ones that Dr. Atkins wrote himself.

1972 is my favorite, and I agree with cfine. I like them all and have different Dr Atkins books.

Check with your local goodwill, and thrift shops for used copies, and library book sales

I also prefer the 72 version. Just so simple and easy.
