these sausages - yay or nay

Am I right in thinking that even if I discount the fibre, because the carbs are all sugar, it doesn't matter, you can't make something minus carbs?

Apart from that, would you eat them? Should I eat them (I'm on Atkins induction)?

I've had the exact same "diet" for 3 weeks now and need a change up, would love a sausage :laugh:
If these are no good, can someone recommend some induction friendly sausages or bacon in the UK :)

Id eat one and see if theres a change for a couple of days. If not then you know its ok in small amounts. Personally I would eat them but Im not in induction.

In the UK, fiber is already deducted from the total carb count. So count them as one gram of carb per two sausages, and whatever else you're looking at eating, don't deduct fiber again.

As for eating them on induction, looks fine to me.

Ok as Ntombi said they look fine in carb terms but I would save them for after the induction stage. The phosphate and sulphites could make you retain water . There is no hard and fast proof for this but as induction is a detox phase too I would avoid them . If you want something sausagelike you could buy minced pork and make patties with the ingredients listed on the package minus the iffy ones .

I'm going to be on induction for 6 months minimum so I'll have to find something. I know the filler ingredients aren't great, but maybe do as suggested and try them and see? I'm not planning on eating them everyday, breakfast for 3 weeks has been 3 scrambled eggs, I need a change :)

Unless there's better sausage?

I don't know if there is better. If you see organic sausages have a look what filler they contain if any. Where are you located ? The ingredient list looks like a UK "banger" to me That way people may be able to advise you of brands. Think about preparing a sausagemix yourself though. Probably a lot cheaper too, if you are not fussy about having sausage patties instead of the traditional shape.
Other than that yes try it and see.

I don't eat commercially made sausage as a general rule because of the fillers. I recently got a tip on making my own sausage patties and that works well as I cook them and then freeze them.

I'd eat them in a heartbeat with some sautéed greens! That is a VERY low carb count. Most salad dressings people eat on induction have more sugar than that yet without the protein...go for it!!

Well, went to aldi after work and they're gone! Replaced with different, worse sausages, so that's my idea down the pan :laugh:

I eat sausages all the time. I say go for it. The carbs are low on those.

84k as you are in the Uk try taking a look at the supermarkets 'finest' ranges as often they are low carb. there is a brand called debbie & Andrews who are also lowcarb

I lived in the UK for a couple years. Good selection of sausages was one of the things I really enjoyed (along with the fish n chips which isn't LC at all).

Sausages were generally higher fat than what we find in the US, but very tasty and some of it should fit nicely on LC, even induction. You should be able to find some good ones there if you just look carefully each trip to the market. Actually I thought the one you showed looked good.

Three scrambled every day for three weeks would be a bit much for me. Most anything can get to be a drag if its the same day after day after day.

I ended up driving 10 miles to my nearest ASDA because I heard they did some gluten free ones which are very low carb, I was either unlucky and they had ran out, or they stop making them as they had a selection of about 12 specialist sausages in their extra special range and they weren't one of them!
Ended up in morrisons and bought some black farmers? I think brand which were low carb, but I wasn't fond of the extra ingredients in them, but I needed to break my breakfast rut and they've satisfied my cravings for now.

One day next week i'm just going to sit down and read these forums properly for some meal ideas, got to keep things fresh....

Another great way to break the breakfast rut is things like ham or roasts, avocados, hwc in iced coffee, etc. All on plan for induction without being eggs ;)

I do not follow Atkins but the ingredients would stop me regardless of the carbs.

I have only found one sausage that meets my requirements (no fillers, no sugar, no grains, no junk, etc) and that is from Murray's brand. They make good chicken sausage from chicken & spices, nothing else. They are others, I'm sure, but I have not seen them.

I eat Jimmy Dean precooked sausages well browned & seem to do well on them. I compare labels & pick the lowest carb count & avoid anything that says sugars... or minimize it if it's all I have to choose from.
I have changed stores over their food offerings.
