I am not slamming Weight Watchers, but I remember we had to weigh in every week. It was a big to-do! You stepped on a platform and the readout was behind the desk so only the person checking you in could see it. They would be very "stoned-face" as they wrote down that "Magic number" in your little book and handed it back to you. It was so anxiety producing!

And you had to stand in line to get weighed, which made it more anxiety producing. I saw people taking off their earrings, watches, belts, rings, all in effort to get the scale to go down. I thought this is CRAZY!!!!!

Hail to the Almighty Scale

Sadie jack, good post. I so agree.
I weigh every day. I am looking for tendency. It makes me spot things going wrong early. Do I get impatient or upset?

I do an official weigh in once a month on the first. Unofficially, I hop on the scale during the month but no changes are made until the 1st.

Great point! It is a tool, not a prison. Watch for patterns and have a holistic view. I went many years not weighing myself and I knew I was gaining. Once I started keeping track over time I could see what made me gain and/or lose. But I never was super anal about it.

I remember when a friend and I went to TOPS (take off pounds sensibly) She wasn't real serious about it, but when we first got weighed in, she wore jeans, a bulky sweater, a turtleneck and a belt. The next week she took off the bulky sweater, and the next week something else, etc. By the 4th or fifth week she had on shorts and a tank top. If we had kept going, she might have ended up in a bikini. And this was all to try to make a small amount of weight loss on the scale.

every morning, after using the potty, bucknekked!
like other have stated, the small daily flucuations are dismissed. i'm looking for a weekly trend. since i'm still in the "losing" mode, if the trend is not downward i review my journal to see what & when i ate, how much i exercised etc etc and then adjustments to my woe and exercise, and mental focus.

Weighing every morning helps keep me accountable. I don't let fluctuations bother me, but I do need to know when I am going over my safe range. It's when I stop weighing that I start steadily gaining.

I've weighed pretty much every day for the last 5 years. The chart is extremely interesting to me to see my trends over the years. I don't put TOO much stock though in the day to day weights. I'm down almost 30 pounds over the last 2 months, and today I was up a pound, but my waist measurement was down .25 inches and I'm still extremely in ketosis. Look for weekly or monthly trends to really grasp your progress. I personally use an iPhone app that shows me it in 2 weeks increments which seems to be my personal preference sweet spot.

I worked out with free weights yesterday so I am not sure if that makes a difference too? Any information/suggestions would be appreciated!
I do daily, but weekly seems to be the standard
