So Delicious Coconut Milk, Non-Dairy frozen Dessert

I tried this and I am absolutely in love. I had the mint chip on mothers day and frankly, love it more than ice cream! I'm posting pictures of the carton.

Tell me, based on the nutritional information, how many carbs would you say this is? Thanks!

Wait what is it?

marieze 05-13-2013 11:50 PM

They call it a non-dairy frozen dessert, but basically it's ice cream, but better!

Ntombi 05-14-2013 12:20 AM

It's ice cream with coconut milk instead of dairy, so it's vegan. They have some with sugar and a few sugar free versions. I haven't tried it yet, but my good friend--who is vegan--absolutely loves the stuff.

Ntombi 05-14-2013 12:22 AM

As to the carb count, I'd probably count it as ten to twelve (18 total minus 8 fiber, plus a few extra, just in case there's fuzzy math somewhere), but I tend to be very conservative with this type of thing.

Here's the nutrition info and ingredients for the no sugar added chocolate flavor. You can see they use mink fruit extract for a sweetener. It's technically a cathohydrate, but has zero calories, which is why the label counts are odd. Just FYI.

VivaaLaCarlos 05-14-2013 12:35 AM

I make something similar. A few frozen strawberries and blueberries blended with heavy whipping cream. Amazing! So far I'm still in ketosis.

marieze 05-14-2013 07:11 AM

I ate the mint chip So Delicious last night and am still in ketosis....I was wondering if any of you deduct sugar alcohols?

Where did you find this?

Janice

I would count it as 18 because I don't do net carbs unless I am subtracting fiber in vegetables. And, the nutritional facts of other supposedly lc ice creams have already been shown to be false with a major disparity in the real and reported cals and carbs.

Not me.

Monk fruit extract isn't a sugar alcohol, FYI. It's an artificial sweetener, like stevia.

It's at a several of my local supermarkets. I think they have a locator on their site. Just google So Delicious dairy free.

marieze 05-14-2013 09:33 AM

The sugar alcohol, I assume, is the erytherol, no? Not the monk fruit....but...like I said, didn't knock me out of ketosis!

Ntombi 05-14-2013 09:58 AM

Oh, sorry, I forgot about the erythritol!

That's one that some people don't count, because of its particular properties. I still count it.

mmorris 05-14-2013 10:38 AM

Sounds Yummy!! Going to look for it in my local supermarket :)

Whoa! THAT sounds delicious!!

I love this stuff. I don't buy it often, but it's a nice treat. My store carries a bar with vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate. That my favorite and its 4net carbs per bar.

Girlieschmoo 05-14-2013 01:21 PM

Someone on another thread introduced me to this line a few months ago and I am wildly in love with all of the flavors. I live in a super tiny town but I got my local grocer to carry it. And I buy the fudge bars by the case through a local wholesale group.

Rhubarb 05-14-2013 01:55 PM

That was me. ;)

I ate this fairly often last summer and it didn't hinder my weight loss at all. Now that it's getting hot again I'll have to buy some again.

I got it originally at Whole Foods but they now carry it at all the grocery stores.

LAGril 05-14-2013 02:14 PM

I've been eating it for a couple of years now -- as a special treat. It is not filled with Frankenfood-type ingredients, so I do subtract the fiber and "sugar alcohols." Erythritol is not like other sugar alcohols. For most people, it does not spike blood sugar.

Other low carb products can be problematic, but this is mostly made of decent ingredients.

The no -sugar added versions have aqua-colored lids. The company makes a number of varieties, so make sure to select the correct one.

I wish more stores carried it, but I do find it here and there.

cchavez 05-14-2013 02:46 PM

how many carbs for the fudge bars..yum!!!

marieze 05-14-2013 04:16 PM

For the mint chip which is fabulous....

If deductimg sugar alcohols, it's 3 net carbs for 1/2 cup and 12 carbs for the whole dang carton! As I said above, I MUCH preferred this to ice cream!!!!!:jumpjoy:

The company is local to us, in Eugene Oregon, so I'm buying local as they say ;)

I bought it at Safeway which I think is the same thing as Kroger...but here in Oregon it's in every store!

Girlieschmoo 05-14-2013 06:38 PM

Hey, neighbor! I'm in sisters :hiya:

GME 05-14-2013 08:13 PM

I can find the regular flavors in most stores, but have only ever found the sugar free kind at Whole Foods.

If for some reason you don't care about sugar free, Trader Joes has THE most delicious strawberry coconut milk ice cream ever.

cfine 05-14-2013 08:22 PM

The fudge bars have 4 net carbs

marieze 05-14-2013 08:24 PM

Hi Girlie!!

Nice to "meet" you!:hiya:

heahyou00 05-15-2013 03:27 PM

Hey fellow Oregonians, I am located in Portland :) I am going to have to go to Safeway or Fred Meyer and check this out, I cant belive I never heard about it before!!

Kelly

marieze 05-15-2013 04:35 PM

Howdy neighbor:hiya:

Yep....safeway....freddies....new seasons....whole paycheck....thriftway....Zupans all have it!!!!!

avid 05-15-2013 04:53 PM

I buy daisy full fat sour cream, sprinkle in some sf torani vanilla, mix in a small scoop of the berries du jour, along with some chopped walnuts. This is a creamy satisfying and healthy desert, or in my case after workout snack, that is minimally processed.
It's not especially low carb, but I'll bet it's no carbier than the pictured products.
Not to mention that it's oh so healthy.

cchavez 05-16-2013 01:04 PM

The fudge bars I saw today had way more carbs.... are yours sugar free? I didn't notice any sugar alcohols listed.
