low carb vending machine snacks?
I am trying to lower my carb intake but not going crazy about it. Are there any vending choices ? I know the answer is probably no but i had to ask

Peanuts are always a good choice, or other nuts if they're offered. Some have cheese stix and/or pepperoni stix in them too. And of course beef jerky!

I second Charski's post. I was going to recommend nuts. Only thing I don't like about those is they tend to have a lot of salt. At least they're LC though, I guess. I have trouble with finding healthy snacks when out too too because I avoid wheat. I had trouble with it before when I was just LC.

Something you can do when you know you will be out and might need a snack is carry a LC protein bar with you so you don't need the vending machine. I like Quest protein bars. Netrition sells them, as do places like GNC. They are low carb, and the ones I've eaten are wheatless as well. They don't taste like a typical protein bar and have yummy flavors. I just discovered them from comments on another website. They aren't coated in frosting either so they don't get all melty like some bars can. LOL! These actually taste better if they warm up a bit. I nuke some flavors for 10 seconds as they can be a little tough. Softens them right up.

Sunflower seeds are a pretty good choice too. Plus, they take a while to eat. Beef jerky and Slim Jims.

Slim Jims are my guilty pleasure snack, absolutely the most processed thing I eat, but I keep some in the car for emergencies. As long as you don't think about the ingredients, they're a great LC snack, fattier than jerky. :)

Smiles, do you prefer any particular flavor of those quest bars? Several of them look tasty, like the cinnamon and strawberry cheesecake! Too bad, too, that I just put a netrition order in.

They have pork rinds in the snack machine at work but ingredients show they contain sugar - why sugar in pork rinds? And they are not BBQ - just plain. I make my own beef jerky with a few recipes from the low carb friends recipe arsenal. Cheaper and absolutely no carbs

I've been known to pick the nuts out of trail mix, but the best situation is NOT to be in a position to need a vending machine snack--even the best ones are old, oxidized, and probably doused in PUFA oils, sodium, and hidden sugar.

Eat more at meals and carry your own healthy snacks whenever possible.
