It's normal...
...to fluctuate 1-2 pounds a week, right? I'm up two this week, but have been following OWL very closely. I'm just trying to fight off discouraging feelings. What do y'all think?

ditto
i weigh myself daily, but i aim for the weekly number to be lower than the previous week's, except for during that TOM, which is always 5-7lbs more. some people weigh monthly only, but i must keep a closer eye on things or my weigh blossoms. |

I go back and forth....it's better for me to weigh once weekly instead of daily. It seems that I can gain weight some weeks for eating too little....then eat a little more for a couple of days and lose 3 pounds. To me, weight loss is crazy.

I only weigh myself once a month or so because I fluctuate so much I will be completely upset by gains as often as I have seen them. I tend to try to go more by how my clothing fits and how I feel, than by the scale.

Shoot, I fluctuate by more than that! I weigh daily, measure monthly, and my weight is up and down every day. As long as it's generally moving in the right direction, and the measurements are down every month, I know I'm on the right track. I typically fluctuate by 3-5 pounds on any given day. Today I'm up seven pounds, but I know exactly why it's even more than (my) normal.
The thing is that as long as you know how your body loses (or maintains) you'll get used to it and not freak out. If you don't want to see the daily fluctuations, weigh less often (or not at all). Everyone's weight fluctuates, and women much more than men. It's the nature of the human body. |

I only weigh once a week (Mondays) and I was up two pounds. I still consider myself a "newbie" so I thought I'd ask. After losing 17 you think I'd be ok with just two baby lbs! I only measure once a month, and my numbers were fantastic last time, so I imagine I'll see some more progress there as well.
Hopefully things continue downward... |

And here's mine from a couple of months ago, the most recent I have in my iPhone. You can see how much I fluctuate, but I still lose. That's the point.

I weigh almost every day and what I've noticed is I'll have a day or two where I am 2-3 pounds down, and then the next 3 days I am back up to where I was. Then 3-4 days on the low number again. I hold there for up to a week and then the cycle starts again. So over a week I see loss, but day by day Im up and down and all over the place

Where do you guys get the fancy chart? That has to keep you pretty sane. To answer OP's question...Yes, I fluctuate all the time. Totally normal.

I make my chart (and others for the measurements) in Numbers, which is like Excel. I have my old charts and graphs from all the way back to the first time I did Atkins, in 2002!

I bounce between 2-6 pounds a day depending on the amount of sodium and red meat I've eaten. It's made me really conscious about my intake of those items.
I have an app in my iPhone that charts for me, but I also keep an excel spread sheet on the computer too. Just look up weight tracking or something similar in the App Store and you'll find tons. |

I do an excel sheet as well. So far, mostly downward trend. I'm not discouraged enough to eat like garbage again. I just feel so much better on this WOE. It's so nice not to have indigestion every night. Thanks for such nice feedback and helpful support.
