LC cooking shows?

I have read that George Stella use to have a cooking show on food network, just wondering if anyone has found anything lc that airs currently on any network.

Nah, not specifically LC that I know of unfortunately... I do love watching Bobby Flay's grilling show though. That's pretty LC friendly for the most part until he stops grilling meat and starts cooking other foods

I used to see a cooking show specifically for low carb (not sure which channel). It was a 30 minute program, but I haven't seen it on in awhile.

Boy, I wish. I have noticed that Rachel Ray often makes a point to say how you can make her dishes low carb for 'those guests watching their carbs'. At least one of her cookbooks was geared towards low carb though I found it to be only lowish carb. It's nice to see the effort, though.

I watch certain shows and try to mentally De-Carb many of the recipes, which to my surprise, is quite doable!!

I remember that Low carb and Lovin it cooking show. That guy was annoying LOL but the recipes were good. I'm surprised there aren't more like that. I have just been "de-carbing" recipes also. Most of those food network cooking shows rely heavily on carbs (geez, there's even one JUST about sandwiches now!).

Join us on the PG. I just started a "De-carbing" (game-kinda) thread...

I enjoy de-carbing!! Fun,..fun,..fun..

Oh yeah, I used to watch that same show too. I *think* someone here a while back, actually posted that the host fell off the bandwagon and re-gained most of the weight back.. Hope its just rumor, but I do remember the post..

That's too bad about him falling off the wagon. Back then, I didn't really know anything about low carb so when he was cooking (I was addicted to cooking shows and would watch ANYTHING) I thought it was annoying that he said "low carb" about 100 times per episode LOL I wish I remembered some of the recipes now. I don't eat strictly low carb but because of my husband's diabetes dinner time is lower carb most of the time.

Blain's low carb cooking, I think, was the name of one.

I wonder if Food Network actually listens to its viewers? I bet a bunch of us could write in to them and request that they begin including low carb shows into their lineup again... maybe they just don't know there'd be a big enough market out there for it? After all, we do kind of get overshadowed by all the other diets in mainstream media pretty much

I wonder if a bunch of people wrote in and asked for low carb shows saying they felt left out and don't feel like there's anything relevant to them on their channel anymore if they'd eventually take heed and listen. Just a thought

That's a good idea! I was also thinking it would be great if a low carb cook went on their next "Food Network Star" show. That woud be cool.

I looked on the Food Network Website and you can still find "Low Carb and Lovin' It" if you search and there's lots of recipes from it listed.

ETA: Looks like a number of the recipes for Low Carb and Lovin' It use soy flour, which I won't use. Hopefully there are some good ones there.

Seems like low-carb is a dangerous trend for the real source of Food Network's revenue: all the processed food companies. But it would be nice to have a good, LC show.

yes i remember his show, he used to weigh himself on camera at the end of each show---he lost quite a bit, but read a couple years ago he had gained some back, wonder how he is doing now, and George Stella----i know George used a lot of soy flour in his recipes---that wasn't for me----

most recipes can be put into lowcarb terms---i do this often----

YouTube has a lot of people showing how they cook low carb dishes. I particularly enjoy Kent (Bowulf) demonstrating how to make many of Jennifer Eloff's recipes.

I remember a cooking show with a guy (I think it was Blaine) and it was low carb but his recipes were terrible. He would add splenda to everything, even his meat dishes. It just seemed like very sloppy cooking by someone who wasn't really a chef and wasn't cooking things to bring out their flavor, but rather was just throwing splenda/AS and cheese on everything and trying to replicate high carb things. I only saw a few episodes though, but that is the impression that I got.

Anyone see recent shows of that guy who won a couple seasons back? Can't recall his name right now, but i think he was the "Sandwich King", or something like that...

Anyway, boy has he put on weight since winning..

The Stella family was on the Dr. Oz show in January 2012. The video is available
on his website. I didn't watch it (not a Dr. Oz -or- George Stella fan) but they
have a still picture of the stage set, and he doesn't look like he's gained much.
