Rub, I was born and raised in San Diego! I just moved to the inland empire like 6 months ago but before that I was in SD. I'm a SD native. Are you going to Jefferson for law school?

Not to mention the $11.00 a day I spent on the drinks. I lived for the winter months so I could have a Venti Heavy whipping cream Eggnog Latte, extra hot, extra foam, extra nutmeg. I was soooo proud of my gold card status!

Since I found Starbucks in 2006, I have gained 75 pounds. For the most part, I attribute the gain to the sugar in my daily Starbucks drinks. I started drinking them when I was a Realtor and didn't have time to stop and eat. I reasoned it was harmless because after all it's espresso, right? I was working 12-16 hour days, living and working out of my car. So, I understand exactly where you are coming from.

I still have a daily Starbucks, but have transitioned to a Grande Iced, Sugar-free Caramel (or Vanilla) Americano in a Venti cup filled with ice, no water with Heavy Whipping Cream and a couple of drops of liquid sweetener. I still get to have my espresso, I get the caffeine pick me up and I have the sweetness I desire and it fits in with my WOE, now that's .
I got the grande in a venti cup iced americano with SF vanilla! Yum! I can't finish it bc it's too strong and I'm now super jittery but good! Better than I thought!

Just keep in mind that the reason why Starbucks is so successful is because they sell a product which is genuinely, physiologically addictive.

I have a friend who was never a coffee drinker. She was at an early soccer game on a winter morning and another mom brought her a drink from Starbucks. She said she didn't particularly like it, but is was warm and she was cold so she drank it.

She said for the next month she would think about and crave that drink she didn't really like in the first place.

Yes I truly think it's addictive!

No, I actually graduated from law school in 2000. I went to NYU, then did a fellowship in Alabama, where I am actually barred, so if I can never pass another bar exam again, at least I can work somewhere. Sadly, I didn't *love* Alabama. But my hubby is actually a professor at TJ. (I'm gonna come back and delete that in a while though, so don't quote me! Students love to track down info on their profs, iykwim.)

Glad you liked it. Too bad it made you jittery though. Maybe next time you feel for Starbucks get a tall (2 shots vs. 3) in a Grande cup filled with water and ice? Kinda dilute it. I saw you were going to try the homemade concoction. Did you try it? If so did you find it an acceptable substitute? Do tell.

It's called Gosh that's good Velvet White Chocolate. I just got it, but haven't tried it yet. got it yesterday. I think I am going to do decaf instant coffee, half n half and that powder over ice and call it a day. I was actually thinking of going to a sbux and asking if I can buy a whole bunch of sbux cups/lids/straws so that I can feel like it's a sbux drink. I tell you, I even tried working at a sbux to try to rid myself of my addiction. Didn't work bc I got free drinks all the time! I thought I'd get tired of it, but no! haha

They just rolled out a new line of reusable cups and straws with the Starbucks logo and everything imprinted on them. They even have the famous green straws and the dreaded dommed lids. Whatever cup you desire is now available in the hard plastic material.
