Swerve sweetner

I got my order awhile back and i'm in Love with the Mama Lupes tortillas And the Guys BBQ sauce i'm Not loving the swerve sweetner. I can't get past that Cooling flavor it leaves behind. I wanted something to bake with instead of splenda because i find it leaves a bitter taste And I haven't baked with the swerve Yet but in drinks I can't stand that cold flavor. Do All sweetners witg erythritol cause that cold feeling?

I haven't bought Swerve, but I have found the cooling effect of erythritol gets blunted a bit when combined with pure stevia extract. I got the recipe for "homemade Truvia" from the Healthy Indulgences blog. I'm sure the recipe would work with Swerve too. Just mix 1 cup erythritol (or Swerve in your case) with 1/2 teaspoon pure stevia extract (no fillers). I use NuNaturals brand - sold on Netrition as NuStevia Pure White Stevia Extract Powder.

I don't know if you're interested in this or not-
but much like erythritol's cooling effect,
glycerin produces a warming effect.
You might want to combine the two to see if
they could offset each other.
(Or it could just create something really
scary horrible )

Lol Might be worth a try. I Love the taste of splenda in Tea or hwc But to bake with I don't like the bitter aftertaste.

I'm extremely picky about sweeteners and their aftertastes. After many years of trial and error, I've settled on an excellent combination of Sweetzfree (liquid Splenda) and Erythritol. If a recipe calls for a cup of sweetener, I use about 18 drops of Sweetzfree and 1/4 cup of E. That's enough E to counter the aftertaste of Splenda, and enough Splenda to cancel the aftertaste of the E. Good combo! I'll bet you could do the same with the Swerve.

this is confusing. yes, erythritol and xylitol have a cooling effect, but that's WHEN IT DISSOLVES. so in a solid food, it dissolves in your mouth and you feel that. in a drink, it should already be dissolved, so no cool feeling. I am puzzled what you are perceiving there...

I think the cooling is WONDERFUL, as good as the sweetness, making it better than sugar. so I guess it's just a matter of taste.

if Splenda tastes bitter, you are probably using too much. try cutting way back till it's just barely sweet enough for you and see if that helps. good luck!

I use this combination also, or sometimes stevia with erythritol. Much better than using any one sweetener alone.

I use the Swerve with Nunaturals liquid stevia. It's the best for baking, IMHO.

I use erithrytol or xylitol when I use a sweetener. I don't even notice the cooling effect any more. And to me it was a lot less irritating than that bitter taste of stevia or the off taste of Splenda (I swear it tastes and smells like bug spray to me!).

E and X both taste very sweet to me (I rarely use anything near the amount recipes call for) and no aftertaste. I use them sparingly, but I'm so happy to have them as options!

Thanks ya'll! I put it in my iced tea today but couldn't drink it due to that cooling feeling. Plus it makes my lips tingle, and not in a good way Lol
