question

Is it true that you should never eat your carbs with fat?

Leo41 04-20-2013 05:44 AM

Are you thinking of "Somersizing" or other food combining plans where there are restrictions like this?

OR are you thinking of the fact that HIGH carbs and HIGH fat is a dangerous combination for both weight and health?

If you're keeping your carbs low, you don't have to worry about eating with fat.

Agee with Leo. It should not matter if your carbs are low enough.

how low is low enough?

I always eat my carbs with fat, as it helps with satiation and to slow down the digestion of the carbs. I never ever eat them alone.

If it matters to you, I'm following a ketogenic plan, so my carbs are very low.

Same here. But I don't eat more than 20 carbs a day, usually closer to 10-15, so it is impossible to not eat my carbs with fat.

:goodpost: Same exact here! It does seem to slow down the digestion of them and avoid blood sugar spikes for me too, so I always eat my carbs with fat... and plenty of it too usually :)

It is the overall daily carbs that matter, not necessarily the carb/fat ratio at one meal. Unless you are eating a really HC meal. But for example you should be able to get away with 20 to 10g of carbs at one meal without major consequences.

I eat my carbs without considering whether I am eating fats with them. I too am ketogenic and therefore keep my carbs very low but can and do eat things like cucumber and celery (both are primarily carbs) without any fat and just some salt.
