DROP the Guilt!!

I see alot of posts with people beating themselves up for going off plan, and frankly posters beating them up for it too sometimes.
Seriously,it held me down for years.I look at each day as a new day now. Some days are stellar days and some not so much. All in all with my new frame of mind ive lost 34lbs since mid January and I feel wonderful.
I dont contribute it to low carb, juddd,or low calorie I contribute it to me "working" a plan and sticking with it even after I fall off the wagon
I have found(for me) LC is best for weightloss but I took a 3-4 week break from low carb and enjoyed JUDDDING from March 10th through April 14th and still lost 4 lbs.I am now back to induction for awhile to try to see if I can drop into the 150s by May 1st. Im enjoying the ride now, experimenting with different programs and most important of all im not AFRAID to fall down.FEAR held me back for a long time but not anymore.FAILURE is up to me and id rather be a winner.

Great post. I totally agree. In fact, I don't call it a slip. I call it a treat, and then it's back on the plan. The more I allow for and schedule my treats, the easier it is to stay on the plan, AND the treats become smaller and less frequent, as I'm not feeling deprived, not obsessing over what I can't eat.

And guilt?! When it comes to weight loss it's useless at best and counter productive at worst. Guilt can lead to binging---"omg, I had a couple of potato chips, naughty me, might as well have the whole bag because I wasn't perfect." We all know the syndrome.

Thanks for your responses,I have come to realize Im never going to be a "perfect" eater and I do better if I allow myself breaks and off plan meals.I know that doesnt work for everyone but trying to be too militant in my woe caused me to give up more than once(feeling like I failed and quitting, when all I had to do was get back to it).I eat clean 90 percent of the time and enjoy the occassional off plan indulgence and lose weight at a pace im more than satisfied with.

I agree with all of it. I too was having the same problems you were.I was doing atkins, it has worked well for me in the past.I have no idea what happened, i got to where I was obsessing over doing it. Oh my gosh, I hope I don`t mess up. You know what I am talking about, I am sure. I developed a new attitude over the weekend and a new WOE.I am now doing it MY WAY.I focus mainly on Low carb veggies, eggs, dairy and meats. I have lost 3 pounds since Monday. I am NOT hungry no obsessing and NO GUILT !!!! We all have to do what works for us.

Exactly! GREAT point! So many don't see it as a long term, health centered plan....one cookie does not make you a bad person, one slip up does not mean FAILURE, just keep going! We're in this together

Yep. Some of us do better with very firm parameters, and enjoy that structure.
Others of us chafe against it and become obsessed with what we can't eat. I have learned that for me when I allow myself some lea way, I make better decisions. When I give myself some latitude, permission to have it if I really want it, I realize I don't want it that bad after all.

It's not our stomachs we have to worry about, it's our brains. This is a head game more than a food game. And when you figure that out, you really start to get somewhere, imo.
