Hello everyone! My name is Junior and I'm nearing the goal I set out for my self, started at 230 and currently at 164, I've been on atkins for 3 months and a half. Been on this website a lot but never joined so I thought it was about time.

Hi Everyone,
I joined this site today. I had not heard about this group but read about it in an article in Woman's World. I have been doing WW for a long time and wanted to change up my eating style a bit. And I thought Atkins would work for me. I'm in my third day and I still am pretty hungry throughout the day. Any suggestions would be great. I'm not sure if I am not eating enough fat or what. I do my best to keep a food/beverage daily diary. I haven't quite figured out the carb counts on the foods listed for induction. But I am learning. Thanks everyone for being here and your support through our respective weight loss journeys!

Hi All,
Oh my goodness, please forgive me. I just remembered where I read about LowCarbFriends. It was on the Atkins site. And I was reading testimonials on Atkins and one of the women shared about joining LowCarbFriends. And she had great friends from this site.

WOE: Low Carb, High Fat
Start Date: May 1, 2014
Hello

I've done low carb many times in the past, I just have never stuck with it long term. I have been back on track for the last 2.5 weeks, I lost some, then started gaining it back. I decided to start tracking my food and percentages of fat/carbs/protein for the day and now I have started losing again following a higher fat ratio to the protein and carbs. I also decided I needed to stay motivated by others following the same type of woe, which is why I joined this forum. My first big goal is to make it under 200 - it has been about 11 years since I've been under 200 and I have gotten as close to being under 200 pounds weighing in a couple of times at 201 & 204, but then I never made it, and gained weight back. I don't know what my ultimate goal will be, for my height I should weigh about 135 pounds or less, that would put me at 100 pounds to lose...when I started 2.5 weeks ago I was 235 pounds and today I'm at 224 pounds - so 89 pounds to go in the long term and 25 pounds to reach my first big goal.

I have struggled with weight my whole life with my weight going up and down, but always trending up. It would be so nice to stick with this and follow through to my goals and learn to maintain it once my goal is reached. I'm praying that I don't self sabotage, that I stay focused on the ultimate goal.

Anyhow - "hello"

Hi all!
Love the site and all the info and support available! this is my 2nd go at low carb. the first time a few years ago started out very successful i think, as i lost about 30 lbs, but my lack of research and understanding of the human metabolism ultimately led to my downfall. I discovered i could eat more carbs, quite by accident, and was still losing weight but eventually as the carbs increased the weight loss slowed and then of course steadily it was all packed back on. I'm not sure why i didn't throw myself back into it right away, maybe i was just not ready. Now I'm am thoroughly sick and tired of being sick and tired and am determined to change my life!

Hello

New here, I am in my first week and feeling pretty good. I won't give up this time ..it's do or die.

So far I am not feeling hungry. Haven't weighed myself yet. I have always been a slow loser. I will weigh in just once a week.

I have been reading lots & lots of posts and reading all the low carb books I have to get and keep motivated.

Best wishes to everyone.

WOE: Atkins-2002 New Diet Revolution
Hello everyone,
Thanks for all the good advise and great suggestions I've been reading while doing Adkins New Diet Revolution for the past 5 months. I've decided to join now that I know I'm on track and going to continue. I am almost at 30 lbs now. I would like to be further along now but it's been steady, yet slow. All of your recipes have really saved me many times now.

Also, Will somebody tell me how to change the settings so that I don't have to go to the 38th page to see if there is a reply to my post?

Thanks cjw, I guess I'm one of the poster girls for A '72 -- following the plan without cheating. It really does work 100% if you give it your 100%. Wishing you heartfelt success on your personal LC WOE journey!

Hi there,

I've been watching this site for a while now and like a lot of the information I've seen posted here. I'm doing Atkins once again and am looking to drop about 140 pounds or so - give or take a little. I figure I'll have a better idea of what my target body weight/bmi is once I'm within about 20 or 30 lbs of my goal weight. I'm guessing that's going to be somewhere around 160 lbs. I started a few weeks ago and have lost about 16 lbs to date. I've read the book several times and am quite familiar with the plan.

Hi Everybody!

I'm a 35-year-old mother of 3 (ages 7.5, 6 and 4.5), doing Callanetics and Yoga, and eating...welll, sensibly, most of the time. Loving chocolate doesn't make my life easier, for sure, but I've been maintaining my weight for 2 years now. I managed to lose 17 kgs (appr. 37 pounds) by sticking to the IR diet (180 gr ch a day).

To be honest, I'm not sure what the difference is. I got my book about 10 years ago, so I don't think its the original plan. I'll have to compare the plans and see. Thanks. For induction, I'm just using the list on their website as I seem to have lost the book at some point.

Just a heads up: there are some differences in the Atkins plans -- the newer the plans the more franken-foods (Atkins bars, shakes, frozen dinners) they try to push on you as well as something they invented called NET carbs back about 10-12 yrs ago (USDA does not recognize net carbs). Those of us that are carb sensitive process all carbs the same...

Ah, thanks. Well, I'm dropping processed food and all that other crap that comes in a box or a can and is found in the middle of the grocery store. That would include bars and powders and stuff

As for carbs, I'm hitting less than 20 grams a day, and find that some days I'm only eating once - simply because I'm just not "stomach hungry". It's amazing, before doing Atkins, I was starving ( addicted/craving ) all the time.

Thanks for the welcome, Jo

Hello!

Hey y'all, first time here. I'm jumping (back) on the LC wagon. Hopefully this time for GOOD. I turned 39 this month and am the heaviest I've ever been. I have 3 young kids that I can't keep up with and I'm embarrassed by how far I've let myself go.

I was lying on the couch this morning with my 2 boys...they were watching a cartoon and I'm thinking "Seriously? It's 9:30 and I'm exhausted! This is for the birds." I'm in a fog, I'm tired and just feel like crap. And nothing in my closet fits. I hate going shopping now because I know I will end up leaving the store feeling defeated and depressed.

Enough.

I deserve better. My kids deserve a healthy and active mom. My husband deserves a hot wife.

I'm hoping that by joining this forum and not going it alone this time, I will find the support I need to be that extra "oomph" and push me a little harder. I'm eager to find new recipes and learn some tips and tricks from other members here.

Newbie here

I've done low carb off and on over the years. I lost about 30 lbs last year with an herbal supplement but re-gained 8. Now I have re-started low carb, about 25-30 g carbs daily. I've lost 2.4 lbs this last week.

Advice needed

Hello!
My name is Lauren and I live in the UK, I saw my doctor today and he told me I have a big intolerance to carbs and I should cut them out.
I. Am. So. Lost.
I have no idea what I can and can't eat, I always had a very 'carby' diet and I have never had to try and cut certain things out of my diet so I am finding this so difficult! I feel like I can't eat anything (it doesn't help that I am a fussy eater!) I have tried searching the internet for low carb food lists but I just keep getting links to atkins and I am so clueless about the whole thing that I don't even know if what I am looking at is useful to me! I would really appreciate any advice I would like to learn to enjoy this new way of eating but I'm so overwhelmed by it all right now! If any one has any hints or tips or do's or don'ts I would be incredibly grateful! Oh yes before I forget I am not really trying to lose weight and I don't eat any kind of fish ever!
In advance,
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!!!!!

I am not new to the site but haven't posted in a long time and I don't even remember where/what I posted before. I've looked at the recipe threads just by googling a dish. I have done low carb on and off. Here lately more off than on. It seems I have lost my way. I'm diabetic so low carb is definitely the best way for me. If you could point me in the direction of a thread that has menus (if there is one) but no particular plan that would be great.

Member on this site in the early days, but have not low carbed in awhile. Looks like I'm still one of the few males on board....lol. My DW actually wanted to start low carbing, as we've both gained a lot of weight and she'd just read that LC is a great way to lose. She'd never LC'd with me before. Don't know why I got off the bandwagon, as my blood work was better in those days than it's ever been. I definately have carb addiction and need to get back to better eating habits as I have Type II diabetes in my immediate family. This site was always such a great place to come for encouragement, recipes, etc. Looking forward to coming back again!

Not new...just back...after getting lost for years.

Hi everyone. Not sure if anyone is still on here from when I was on Atkins 2003-2005 and then again 2008? Anyway, after trying so many different approaches to weight loss...with little to no success...I realized that I had to get back on the wagon and this time for good. Back in 2003-2004 I lost 42 lbs on Atkins. Granted I was 10 years younger but back then, not as active as I am now. Actually I thought that by being active it would help me shed the pounds even if I ate moderate carbs (whole grains) well I was wrong. Some of us I think just need to stay away from carbs even if they are supposedly "good".

Well I gained back almost all the weight I lost back then and now that I am 51, and that dreaded "M" is around the corner, losing weight and inches is more of a struggle than I ever experienced in the past. Many things changed in my life...divorce...daughter married...became a grandma...and both daughters moving to other states...getting laid off....and now a wonderful, supporting new man in my life. I know its the time to do it and stay on it. What I am lucky is that he is doing it with me (although he only needs to lose 10-15 lbs) and this is why I know the road to success is before me.

Looking forward to visiting often and learning...I find every day is a learning experience...and seeing what progress we all make in the near future!

Hello everyone...first timer here chiming in.

I did Atkins wayyyy back in 99 and didn't last long. Now, I am on the LCHF/Keto train and loving it. I started at the end of April, and have lost 12 pounds so far.

I was diagnosed with prediabetes (just teetering at the edge of true diabetes) and hypothyroidism at the end of April this year, so that spurred me on to this WoE. I was 225 at my high weight, and started Keto at 219. It's starting to come off Trying to get to 130 eventually! I am now looking at 44 at my next birthday, and I need to make a change. I can't jeopardize my health anymore.

I have been doing a lot of lurking...and learning! See you around the forums

It has been so long since I posted here I feel like a new member all over again. I am back on Atkins after years of being away. It has been a hard few years and I regained everything I lost and then some. The prednisone hasn't helped, of course. (I was diagnosed with lupus 5 years ago)

So, here I am, starting over.

WOE: Atkins-2002 New Diet Revolution
Piedrafina, I just joined recently although I started Atkins about 5 1/2 months ago.
I love this web-site, especially the recipes which is what helped guide me on what to eat in the beginning.
My daughter had to be on prednisone for quite some time a few years ago for Lupus like symptoms too.
Well, this diet will make a huge difference in all of our lives.
I think I will eat like this always. It's so healthy and good too.
Welcome
