Got a chuckle from this one and thought i would share. I remember my dad trying these, pre-Atkins. Some things never change.

I love how the article slips in a little dig at Paleo:

some poor health writer may be reporting on bizarre diets turn-of-this-century men and women slavishly followed like "eating like a caveman"
Yeah -- eating unprocessed meats, vegetables, fruit, and eggs, how totally bizarre.

Gah! Pet peeve of mine when people throw slams about clean eating, or labeling it "faddish". But I guess if you were born in the last 20-30 years, processed food is the norm, and living on clean, unprocessed foods is just a foreign concept.

Interesting... my mom used to diet and eat tuna (plain), and salad (lettuce) with cottage cheese. Oh, and Tab! Basically... low carb nowadays. I didn't grow up eating processed food, so not eating it - seems more natural. The idea of eating pre-frozen meals out of a microwave totally grosses me out. I've never had a lean cuisine, smart one, etc in my freezer.
