carbalose/carbquik- affect blood sugar?

I want to buy some, but my mom and dad are prediabetic and my husband might be too. Anyone have issues with it? I want to make SOMETHING a little 'normal' for his transition. I'd be nice if I could have a little bread with my eggs, too.

Thanks in advance...

I have heard great things about it on here, but after lc for 2 months I bought some. I made half a recipe of biscuits, and ate I a day with breakfast. I gained 3 lbs. I am prediabetetic and hyperinsulin though. It may just be that I got an insulin response because I am very sensitive to carbs. If you aren't worried about weight loss persay, this is a good product for transistion.

The first time I did the Atkins diet I bought Carbquik on occassion. The price was a lot different then...$4.99 a box. I only added it in after a few months. However, since bread is my downfall...I kept wanting to eat the biscuits. Now I look at the price and cannot justify $11.99 a box. OUCH!!

first, forget carbalose. many more calories than carbquik and not a better product at all.

as to carbquik, I don't find it raises my blood sugar, but it DOES make me gain weight. and it's not just the calories in it or the wheat protein either. I gain more than from some other things with wheat. it's a mixed blessing.

(I have tried carbalose in combination with other things too, and it's no better weight wise. funny taste and hard to use, for me.)

it's more expensive, but I advise going to the thread for Fantastic Flour Mix or something like that... they have a blend using coconut flour, whey protein, powdered eggwhites, oat fiber, some other stuff, that people are wild about. it does not cause weight gain, tastes better, etc.

I have not used it myself, but I have made many mixtures like that and they can be pretty darned good. it's a lot of work figuring it out, but so much better than either carbalose or carbquik!

good luck

I just bought my first box of Carbquick a couple of weeks ago, and had a biscuit here and then throughout this past week. I am down 3 pounds and it did not affect my blood sugar at all. I test twice a day as a type 2, and have seen no ill effects of the Carbquick at all.
