Want to talk about my food today?

Besides telling me to cut out the artificial sweetners, what other comments do you have?

(Background, I lost 53 lbs, but I have put 5 of that back on. Been at my goal weight over a year...so I am not looking to drop a lot of weight quickly.)

Breakfast - just coffee- just got back from vacation so no food in the house...slept late, drank coffee, went to grocery store and came back for an early lunch.

Lunch - 1 deviled egg, 4 oz turkey thigh, 1 avacado, little olive oil and salt

snack - coffee (cream and 2 sweet n lo)

Dinner - 1 1/2 chicken thights (no skin today
4 cups salad with oily dressing and blue cheese crumbles
mushroom marinated in a little oil and vinegar

coffee now

How much cream are you using throughout the day in all of those coffees? You might be getting too many calories from it.

Is this a typical day for you? Or are you starting back on LC? Sorry for the confusion.

This is pretty typical. I've kept it low carb but I think I am experiencing carb creep.
The coffee creamer is certainly an example of it...I think nolcjunk is right about that one...

Oh except I usually eat breakfast...either a piece of chicken, beef or eggs.

have you ever used something like unsweetened almond or almond coconut milk? The calories and carbs are low (something like 40 cals a cup, 2 carbs).

Ok gotcha. If this is a typical menu for you and you have gained some weight, my suggestion would be to not only count your net carbs, but your grams of protein as well. This is what helped me to get back on track to losing after Atkins quit working. Check out the NK thread for more info on how to calculate how many grams of protein you need for your lean body mass. It's really easy once you get the hang of it. I can do protein grams in my head as quickly as I count carbs now.

I just glanced at your menu and you ate over 40 grams of protein just for breakfast. I only eat around 60-70 per day for my totals. Its amazing how much protein we can eat thinking that its ok. Getting accustomed to eating smaller portions of protein is hard at first just simply because we've never had to worry about it. I really do think you will see a difference by changing this one thing.

I agree with the protein assessment! I aim for between 70-90g for my entire day, and so when I realized how much protein that steak and eggs was giving me in the morning... well, needless to say I had to cut it out! LOL. I found that I was stalling myself and causing gradual weight gain by overeating protein. I second what cfine said about checking out the NK thread. Everyone there is great, and NK has been a life saver for me!
