Da Vinci or Torani?

Does anyone have a preference?

Torani. Only because it is easier for me to buy as my local grocery store carries them.

I have a bunch of flavors of both and do not see any difference between the to at all.

My local Cash and Carry (restaurant supply store open to the public) carries every single flavor of both brands and they are only $3.84 for the big bottle.

I don't taste a difference. I buy whichever is available in the flavor I want at the time. My Smart & Final (same as Cash & Carry) tends to carry Torani most often, but I've bought both there and elsewhere. BevMo has a really good selection too.

Somebody did an experiment a while back and found that Torani was sweeter than Davinci's- so you get more for your money with Torani.

If the sweetener makes a difference to you, Monin syrups use mostly erythritol and some sucralose. DaVinci uses straight sucralose as does Torani, I believe.

I buy based on that....so Monin is my preference. For what it's worth, we have a coffee company in our little town where they roast their own coffees....fairly well known through out the Northwest. Anyhow, I just found out yesterday that they will only use Monin syrups...they feel they are the best.

Thanks for throwing that one in to the discussion, I haven't tried Monin brand. Although I like some of the fruity of the other brands, I didn't like the hazelnut or even vanilla of the others very much, which I had hoped would be great in coffee! Just added the white chocolate and a pump to my netrition shopping cart!

Sure! I just found out about Monin myself in the "Erythritol"thread...someone posted about them and I immediately went to Cash and Carry and bought every SF flavor they had

I've never seen them in the stores I frequent, I don't think there's a Cash and Carry near me... my smart n final only carries torani... so I am glad netrition carries them! Yay!

I am a torani fan, but in all honesty never tried davinci! The flavor selection is amazing for torani.

Smart & Final is owned by the same company as Cash & Carry, so they aren't in the same areas. S&F has the pumps, FYI.

I am in California and find that torani is easier to find... It's at stater brothers, walmart, smart & final, I even find the small bottles (though for a higher price) at my grocery stores.... Oh, and Bev-mo, but I don't really drink wine so I hardly ever go there.

However, I don't recall seeing davinci or monin at any of these same places...

Anyway, I wonder if that is the case in other states as well...

I gathered that from your last post (I didn't know that, so thanks for the info by the way)... my smart and final only has torani though

My BevMo sells both Torani and Da Vinci. I'm just up the road from OC in Long Beach.

I usually order my torani from netrition but have seen it in Walmart (small bottles) and the supermarket (in CO). I sometimes will pick up a small bottle of raspberry when I run out, even though its pricier...my 5 year old loves it in his milk!

Sometimes mine has both, and sometimes it only has Torani. TBH, though, I stopped paying much attention to which brand I'm buying years ago, since I like them the same.

Cool... good to know! I am going to try the Monin in my next netrition order, and if I don't like it in my coffee, I'll try the davinci again. I can not find a hazelnut I like, which is crazy because I love the regular (sugar) hazelnut syrups, and the difference is not that I don't like splenda! I am totally used to splenda lol

I love both. I think some flavors vary from one brand to the other, but they are all pretty good. Well, I guess the chocolate ones are not good! LOL but in general.

I haven't had the chocolate in years. I tried the Da Vinci probably ten years ago, threw it out, and never bought the flavor again.

I have several flavors, but my absolute fave is coconut. It's delicious, even as a cocktail mixer! Remember those coconut rums? Well, they're full of sugar, so I use regular rum, coconut syrup, and Pepsi One. I also use it other ways, like I'll mix it into cream cheese as a snack sometimes.

I even had a special syrup shelf built in my kitchen.

But I saw this at BevMo.

No.

OMG bacon some people here would totally try it (if only it were sugar free!!!) but not me! lol

I second the coconut (only tried torani) as being a good one. It is excellent in a chocolate protein shake.

They have different specialties.
My favorite Torani are toffee and caramel
My favorite Davinci are butterscotch, praline, dulce de leche, and marshmallow

My local Wal Mart was the only place around that carried DaVinci. They don't carry it anymore though They carry this generic stuff now in a few select flavors (but I don't think they have chocolate). I have never tried it, but it's made with Splenda and is only $1 a bottle so I may try it just for fun sometime. Kroger carries Torani, but not very many flavors. I think they only carry vanilla, SF vanilla, hazelnut and carmel.

Thanks for the great discussion! I got a 30 calorie light cherry lemonade from a Coke Freestyle machine and want s/f cherry syrup that doesn't taste like cough syrup to recreate it at home. I'm in Riverside, California, my husband works in Long Beach, and since I grew up in Orange County (trying sooo hard to move back!) we spend a lot of time there...if I can't find it in any of those places I'll give up!

The peach, raspberry, and strawberry are each good (alone) in homemade lemonade.

I prefer Torani for the fruit flavors and salted caramel. Davinci for other flavors and Monin for chocolate.

over $12 a small bottle here and only from specialist 'foodie' online sites so add postage to that :/ The only one in supermarkets that is anywhere like that is sf imitation maple syrup...
