I need your help please!
Well my friend does!! She and I are doing Atkins together and eating the same menu. This is not my first time at the lc rodeo so I know we aren't messing the diet up by eating Frankenfoods/eating inappropriate foods for induction(we also have the book). So it's not like "ohh I'm eating lc pasta, shakes, and bars. Why am I not losing". She is also a roommate and I know what she is eating. Anyway she got her TOM yesterday and she used a keto stick today and its not very dark. Yesterday it was very dark! I'm confused could it be her TOM messing with the stick or her metabolism?? Should she super low lc it? Like a fast for the duration of her TOM? Thank y'all sooo much!!

Hi Rebecca, the stix are so unreliable. The most that they can say a person is in ketosis and not that they are not. The color (pink or dark purple) is often an indication of hydration

I agree, the sticks aren't super reliable. Your hormones can effect your losses during TOM, so don't let her get discouraged. As long as she stays the course, it WILL happen!

I always gain or at least not lose right around TOM. So she shouldn't worry too much. Plus different people lose at different rates, and sometimes there is no reason why the scale stays the same or goes up for a bit. If you stick with the plan it will go down eventually. If it truly a long stall (4-6 weeks or more) it might be time to make some tweaks.

Ketostix measure the concentration of ketones, so the more water you're excreting along with the ketones, the paler they'll be. Don't worry about it. |
