Long time Lurker
 
I've been visiting this site for years. Finally decided to introduce my self.

I was diagnosed with diabetes 2006. Dr recommended trying Low Carb diet before using meds. I was never over wieght and unfortunatly, after 6 months of eating under 50 carbs a day, My weight dropped to low.
Anyway ended up on metformin and keeping carbs under 100 per day. Not really low carb more like controlled carb. I track callories but don't really worry about them

DH has great blood work but is over wieght, has insisted on low fat diet, which has been a challenge. Some one mentioned the movie Fat Head, and I convinced DH to watch it. FINALLY they explaind what I couldn't. now he is doing more controlled carbs 120- 150 per day (much better than the 300 + he was eating) About the same calories, 2000. He is losing about 2 lb a week and never hungery yea.

I don't worry about his weight as muchn as his health,
My blood work/ health was great, untill it wasn't.

Yup. I stared down this road for health, the first time, and the weight-loss was a happy side-effect! :up:

A lot of "mainstream" folks would consider 100 to be "low carb". My old town had a "low carb" store open up, so I checked it out on friend's advice. Except for the chicken jerky, EVERYTHING they sold was more carbs than I eat in a day. I said so, and they asked how many I eat. I told them (<20), and they literally walked away from me. (Needless to say, I didn't shop there.)

So while you may not be as LC as some of us, you're definitely in the right place, and amongst people who understand! I know you'll find a lot of useful resources here. I sure have!
