i have been doin atkins on and off since 2007, and i am back on the wagon and this is my 3rd day since starting... i was just wondering what type of tea is okay to drink hot? does it have to be decaffeinated? is any type of green tea okay? please help i have a cupboard full of different types of tea but im scared to drink it and stall. I have super markets by me like: giant eagle, walmart, shop n save, community market and an iga nearby where i live and if i can purchase the tea allowed on induction at anyone of these stores please let me know.

Yerba mate and oolong tea are great for so many reasons. I drink them both every day.
Unless there's sugar in a tea, and there shouldn't be in the teabags, but I'd check the labels anyway. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they stalled with teas. I have a huge selection of tetley teas, and also started buying high quality loose leaf teas. They're all great, and when I brew a pot, I drink what I want then pour the rest in a container and make iced tea with it the next day with stevia. It's awesome. As far as caffeine goes, doesn't affect me at all, but I drink more decaf than anything else, coffee or tea.

One of the Atkins books cautions that caffeine may cause an insulin rise for some people, but that doesn't seem to stop most people from losing successfully while drinking coffee. Black tea will have less caffeine than coffee, and green tea still less. If you are nervous about it, maybe opt for green tea? But I also have never heard of anyone stalling because of drinking tea, so long as they didn't add sugar or other caloric sweeteners like honey to it.
Flavored teas (from David's Tea company, especially) are a down day staple of many women doing JUDDD, as a satisfying thing to consume for minimal calories on down days. I'd say let yourself pamper yourself with good tea when you adjusting to giving up other things. |

I promise any anxiety over tea is a waste. Go nuts! Most of us could use more antioxidants and magnesium. Caffeine after dinner is probably unwise so keep a variety in stock.

I drink a lot of tea, mostly black tea that has caffeine. Don't worry about it.
Unless it's one of those pre-sweetened monstrosities. ![]() |

I have about ten different teas that I drink at work. Keeps me from mindlessly snacking!
Like Ntombi said, stay away from the flavoured, presweetened teas, for the rest, the world of tea is your oyster! I really really like green tea, the plain stuff and also drink rooibos tea and earl grey on a regular basis. Herbal teas are nice too, and I recently found this really nice elderflower tea... (Yup, I REALLY like tea, LOL) At starbucks they sell these nice teas in cute metal tins... Expensive, so I use them sparingly, but their Hibiscus Blend herbal tea is really nice and I can recommend their Jasmine Orange grean tea as well. ETA: loose leaf teas are usually a better quality than tea sold in bags....

Red rooibos is one of my favorites, right after black breakfast teas.

Tea bags are just fine as is loose leaf tea. Don't drink so much that you bounce off the walls (that's a LOT of tea.)
Don't order tea in the South in restaurants without saying UNSWEET! Don't get the disgusting instant tea (abomination!) with the added sugar. Easy. Off to brew another pot. |

LOVE tea!! I drink mostly strong black teas like English Breakfast, with splenda and of course heavy cream! It has never affected my weight!
