So very tired!
Not sure if this is related to the recent poisioning/flu/whatever it was or not. I am just beat! I "forced" myself to walk yesterday (it was a gorgeous sunny/70 degree day). Normally I can do 2 miles no prob. I barely made the 2 miles yesterday... I mean I was staggering to my car. Got around 9 hours of sleep last night and I still feel tired.
Is there a LC related issue to this or is it the aftermath of being ill? ![]() |

While in ketosis, I actually think I have more energy when working out. However, when "transitioning" into ketosis from a weekend cheat, I notice my energy level is diminished and can fatigue while doing strenuos exercise (Kung Fu), as the muscles are not apparently entirely geared up to run off of free fatty acids and keytones just yet. Another reason not to cheat.

The fatigue disappeared in week four and although I had a few ongoing issues with electrolytes beyond that, I've felt really, really great ever since. Drink broth. I think it's good for whatever ails you whether it's residual illness or induction flu. Good luck. |

Honestly, given how sick you were, I'd blame that. Your body is deeply depleted, and it'll take a little while to be back "up to snuff".
I second the advice about the broth -- it'll help get your electrolytes back where they should be. (They ARE depleted from your bout of illness. Not "Maybe". They ARE. Period.) Eat a few dill pickles, too, as that's another good source of electrolytes. And rest. You went through an illness so bad you had to go to ER. Give your body a little time to get better! |

If I don't get enough salt when eating low carb, I start feeling like I need to lie down and sleep for a week. You need to be drinking broth. You may also need to be getting probiotics to recover from your G.I. illness. Eat plain Greek yogurt and lacto-fermented veggies from the refrigerated section of the grocery store (such as Bubbe's brand sauerkraut), and/or take probiotic supplements (usually need to be refrigerated). And drink broth, for sure. |

I was kinda thinking outloud as to how it might be possible to experience the tiredness in connection to low carb, rather than the tiredness just being fallout from the sickness. |

I'm thinking this has more to do with how sick you were. It takes a bit for our bodies to heal. I'd recommend replacing electrolytes with broth...maybe some magnesium chelate supplementation (it isn't the kind the causes diarrhea) and avocado for potassium. All of this and rest. Don't worry about any kind of hardcore exercise. Just gentle movements until you feel you're back up to snuff. Sorry you're so tired. I've been there. ((((HUGS)))
