Yes. People know that I'm picky about what I eat and that I take fitness seriously. Ergo, it must be natural and easy for me.

What these people don't realize is that what many of us are really struggling with is essentially a drug addition. Sound silly? Maybe. But food is a chemical that we ingest and it has a very predictable effect on our physiology. That's why I call it a drug. Every one on this board is trying to break their addition to the wrong kind of drug (a.k.a. carbs).

From the moment we wake up to the time we go to bed, day in and day out, we feel the temptation to give in and do the easy and pleasurable thing and give in to that addiction. They don't hear the screaming that goes on in our heads. They can't see the emotional tsunami that is trying to wash us out to our doom as we hold on to whatever anchor we use to save ourselves from the self-loathing we know will come if we lose our grip.

Is the picture I paint over the top? Maybe, maybe not.

But, yes. I deal with this, too.
