why I need to get back on plan
Physical
-my stomach is resting on my lap (noticed this when the kids at work try to sit on my lap) -acid reflux returned -favorite jeans are too tight to wear in public -less exercise because I feel lethargic -snoring (which had stopped) -tmj/tinnitus has returned -sinus congestion/sneezing not due to a cold Mental -pessimistic -coping skills are in the toilet -irritable/impatient with others -depressed and anxious -foggy brained -carb doped (one track mind, what carb will I eat next) -guilt/shame for not taking care of myself- especially when I see DH trying so hard to take care of his health. I can see what I am doing and need to stop it!!!! Anyone else?? |

Oh my goodness, how I needed this post today! I was actually just thinking of ALL the reasons that I need to get back on plan and then BAM! I see this! :) I hear ya on most of the reasons .. ugh! But we've got this ... we can do it!
Physical: 1. my stomach feels bloated all the time 2. headaches 3. lethargic 4. my pants and shirts are getting really tight and uncomfortable 5. wrist pain has returned (disappears when I'm OP) 6. tired often Mental: 1. stressed 2. unhappy and disgusted with letting myself go 3. can't get myself to mentally be ready to exercise because I feel so hopeless 4. irritable What I look forward to is the feeling of being clear headed, happy, in control, energized, lighter, proud, etc! |

I have been struggling to get back on program for quite some time now. I had lost 80 pounds 3 years ago, but gained it all back. I am now 54 years old and it's quite a struggle. I was having a hard time moving. Everything ached. I had no energy. My self-esteem was so low. My clothes were all tight, even the new stuff I had to pick up with the weight gain.
Somehow, three weeks ago, something "clicked!" I have now lost 7 pounds and feel FABULOUS. My body aches are gone, my clothes are fitting marvelously, and I feel like a MILLION BUCKS! What worked this time? I was drinking too much coffee and also too many no-calorie drinks (soda's, ice tea's, and a bunch of other products with sugar substitutes.) I was thirsty all the time. I totally eliminated all sugar substitute drinks, and it made it so much easier to get back on the low carb wagon. Even though the sugar substitute products had no sugar or carbs, my body kept craving their sweetness and I couldn't stop eating. Now, I am pleasantly full and satisfied with veggies, fat, and protein. I also added coconut oil to my coffee in the morning, and am drinking more water. I come to this board every day for several doses of motivation, and the other thing I did was open a Pinterest account and I follow other pinner’s boards for wonderful low carb recipes. Good luck to everyone! Cheryl |

comfort in a crowd
I'm right there with all of you, down to the excessive thirst that I experience from sugar-free drinks. Let's get back on the wagon before spring and summer arrive!

This is me right now. I don't know why I can't control myself. :(
I'm so depressed - nothing fits anymore and I can't keep buying bigger clothes. Quote:

I must say though, reading everyone's responses just pushed me to track my carbs on my Atkins tracker. So thanks!
|
Thanks! I needed this! I just printed out the list of induction foods and instructions, I'm heading to the grocery store, and I'm back to step one! I too am giving up artificial sweeteners and drinks. When I felt best on this plan in the very beginning, I wasn't using them. Off we go!

Still sticking to my plan and feeling fabulous! Sleeping better and my hot flashes have deminished immensely! Lost another two pounds! I put on a pair of slacks i just bought and they are practially falling off! Thank goodnees they were a thrift store purchase and I only paid under $4.00 for them. One of the benefits of eliminating diet drinks is that I am drinking more water.
I hope you all are doing well and look forward to hearing how you are doing! |

Just an idea. Someone else would have to head it.... Dependability is not my strong point when it comes to the internet. ;) |
