How do you eat less than 10g carbs?
Hi, I have been doing atkins and had a major carb creep. I was trying to keep my carbs between 20 - 25g, but when I tried adding a few more induction veggies, the carbs took over and my old symptoms all came back. After two days or really bad hypoglycemia after meals, I decided to double check all my carb counts. I am not sure the carb counts in the atkins book are correct and I think was getting a lot more carbs than I thought.
I was thinking of trying to lower my carbs below 10g, thinking that it is a better goal. But I was confused. What does one eat when going that low? Everything except meat has carbs in it. If there is anyone doing below 10g can you give me a sample of what you might eat in a day? Thanks. |

I you were doing well at 20-25g of carbs, why do you want to go below that?
I ask because 20-25g is my own CCL (the most carbs I can handle and maintain my weight), but I don't see any point in trying to go lower than that. |

I agree, try going back to 20-25 grams of carbs first.
in any case, it's best to think FAT rather than protein to get your nutrition without carb creep. good luck! |

Double check your micronutrients if you go that low. Blood sugar issues might be the main cause of intrusive hunger but longterm deficiencies can also be responsible.

I don't really want to go below 20 - 25g, because I want to keep some veggies, but I was getting carb creep and the consequences were severe hypoglycemia. Some of the things I was eating was sunflower seed butter, which according to nutritionselfdata.com, it is more like 2 carbs/tbsn, as opposed to .5 which the atkins book says it has. Also the chinese cabbage says 0 in the atkins book, there is more like 2 g per cup, according to the same website. And I think almond milk has more carbs in it that it claims.
I'm trying to repair my metabolism, at is damaged from doing endurance sports and a bad diet. My body has no clue how to use fat efficiently for energy and anabolism. The only thing I can think of is reducing the carbs and increasing the fat. But I didn't know how to reduce carbs below 20g, short of drinking oil for breakfast/lunch and dinner! When I meant eating below 10g, I was talking about net carbs, yes thanks. I appreciate everyone's feedback so far. |

It is diet soda and HWC. Sooooooo tasty! Almost any flavor of diet drink will work so experiment. Use as little or as much HWC as you like. I usually use an ounce with as much soda as my glass of ice will hold.
My current favorites: Coke Zero Big Red Zero Orange Diet Dr. Pepper |

How? Will power. Lots and lots of it xD lol...jk...it's actually delicious to me! A typical meal for me is some sort of protein with tons of fat (mostly butter in my case because I love it) and some sauteed mushrooms on the side. Shrooms are pretty low in carbs and I don't have a lot. I don't really get carbs from anything else, except maybe a teeny bit from cheese, and eggs have a bit but I don't eat them daily.
