Confession of a FAT woman!
Hi guys...I've been a lurker on and off for years! I'm 33 years old, married 13 years and have the most beautiful 7 year old daughter.
I lost about 60lbs (starting at 230) on Atkins back in 2004, and after losing the weight I was able to get pregnant with my daughter. I have PCOS and know that this is the only way I have ever been able to successfully move the scale. Im ashamed to admit that I became complacent and in denial about my weight over the years and peaking at 295 I had become so disgusted with my own body, it was affecting me marriage and my ability to take part in my daughters life. I won't even admit to my husband how much I really weigh. The good new is that on January 14th my husband and I decided to start our journey towards a heathier lifestyle. We both want to feel good about ourselves again. As of today I have lost 19.6lbs, and am seeing the changes in my body. I'm no longer breathing heavily and can tell my knees and hips are not sore all the time. I'm also hoping to get back to a healthy weight and have another child... My husband has lost about 14lbs (starting at 248) and he too is motivated to reach his goal of 190. I just wanted to say hi and let you all know that your stories and encouragement is a lifesaver, and I'm fairly certain that I could not do this without you all. ![]() So there is my confession. Wheew! That felt good! |

Hello! We sound very similar except I'm 10 years old than you! I also have PCOS, have lost weight before and regained (though not on low carb), I have a 10 year old son, and DH and I are both committed to this WOE. You've done great in your first month! I've lost a little slower but mostly steady over the past three months. Looking forward to your posts.

Congrats on weight loss so far and more so, coming back to low carb. I would strongly suggest that you read "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes if you haven't already. Keep posting and reading here at LCF as it is one of the best support sites!! |

Welcome, you're singing my song. I have PCOS and we went through IVF twice to conceive our first child (now 20). 8 years later I was low carbing to try to lose weight and surprise--our second child (now 12)! Unfortunately, when I was pregnant with her they warned me against following a low carb diet or being in ketosis, so I lost my momentum and it took me 11 years to get back to it. Don't let that happen to you! Stay low carb with adequate calories and good nutritious food when you conceive again (and you will!) and commit to this for the health of your baby as well as yourself.
Be proud of the healthy decision you've made. You're going to do great! |

![]() I can relate to your years of denial and shame in admitting your highest weight to your DH. All that matters now is you are on track and taking charge. Good for you! |

WELCOME to LCF!!!! You can totally do this! Congrats on losing 19...almost 20lbs! Awesome job!!! I have PCOS, too. We conceived our daughter after I lost some weight using Slimfast (blech), and our son came 2.5 years later using Clomid. I didn't discover low carbing until 2011, and I am slowly reversing many of my PCOS symptoms thanks to eating this way and exercising. Just take it one day, one meal at a time. You can do it!!
