I absolutly LOVE saganaki. its basically cheese with a dash of brandy that they set on fire at your table and put out the flames with juice from a lemon. i thought it was low carb until i looked up recipes. Some use Kasseri cheese which has an INSAIN amount of carbs in it for cheese and they dredge it in flour. So sad, its my favorite food.

I love Ouzo. Has a licorice flavor & is best with a few whole coffee beans floating in it. Do NOT put ice in it (it will get cloudy), it is meant to be sipped room temperature.
Ouzo is rather inexpensive - maybe pick up a bottle at a liquor store and make greek recipes at home to have an excuse to try it? |
