I'm an apple, but I have lost all over. In fact, proportionally speaking, I am pretty much the same as I was when I started. I'm still an apple -- just a smaller one. I have lost about 5 inches in my belly though, so even though I still have no waist, I am excited about what I have lost.

I have lost most of my weight around the middle so far and I am definitely an apple shape. I am also losing it in my chest.

Same here. I am still very much an apple. Pretty much all of my excess fat is around the belly. My waist is still the biggest part of me. It makes buying pants challenging. I usually end up buying pants in the Juniors department because if I buy pants to fit my waist the hips and rear are so big I look like I am wearing genie pants. Even so, I still never have to unbutton my pants to pull them off.

I lose all over, and sometimes from the spots that aren't especially heavy. But I am also an apple, and I've lost substantially more from my stomach than from elsewhere (thank goodness). Over the past year, I've lost 10 inches from my waist, compared to 7 inches from my breast and hips. So my proportions are improving and a bit less apple-like, even though I've got a long way to go.

Thanks rdiane, I am on my way to being a smaller apple - I'll always be an apple, but I'll be happier and healthier being a smaller one!

Apple here. I lost most of my inches from my waistline --- 11 inches! (I'd never admit that anywhere else...) The bulk of it came off pretty fast.

But I'm still carrying more fat around the middle than I'd like. I bought a pair of "curvy" jeans on ebay and they didn't fit at all. I'm no hourglass and never will be.

I think that at our best, most "apples" are actually "rulers" which I think is why I always used to look pretty good in men's Levis while other girls had problems with them.

especially if you are older and got that spare tire later in life, it's likely not to come off ever, let alone first *sigh*

good luck though!

I believe I am probably losing as much from my middle as all the other places on my body, but I just have so much fat in my belly that it seems like I'm not losing as fast there. It's still huge!! I am looking pretty skinny everywhere else I still am wearing a size 24 pants because of my fat belly. I try not to think about it though. I just keep focusing on my health and wellness, otherwise I would get discouraged.

Has anyone found any good clothing lines for us apples?
I'm a petite plus size and an apple shape, and have the worst time finding things, especially jeans. I would love to have a good fitting pair just once.

Janet, I wear "Not Your Daughters Jeans". I buy them on line at Nordstroms. As far as finding a store for us apple, I would like to know too.

I am an apple shape and I find that a designer named Eileen Fisher has some good stuff. She designs beautifullly tailored pants that stretch around the waist but still look good. She also makes lovely long cardigans that cover a multitude of sins -- in my case, a bulging tummy and back fat. For similar looks at lower prices, check out J.Jill's Wearever collection. I've been wearing their black stretch pants with a long black cardigan (that is tailored like a jacket only more forgiving) with a black tank top for a longer lean monochromatic look. Just go to Women's apparel, accessories, and footwear from J. Jill.

The apple shape is tough. I have broad shoulders, large breasts but much smaller hips, bum and legs. Even when I am skinny, I still have balance issues -- I used to wear a size 2 pant or skirt and a size 6 top when I weighed 120 pounds and I've five foot seven.

If only I could be born again as Jennifer Lopez!

It's too early to tell here, but I will say that it is coming off the middle better than with calorie restriction diets I've done. I do know that even when I get to the core of an apple there is a bulge at the seed pod.

I find that junior sizes fit better in slacks, and as someone mentioned, boy's/men's jeans. Chadwick's of Boston usually has dresses that work well and most come in petite sizing.

When I'm at a healthy weight, I'm a classic hourglass. (Or was, once upon a time!)

When I'm overweight, I'm an apple.

I'm down around 40 lbs, and my face-forward silhouette is an hourglass (though still a bumpy one!) again. (And boy, is "silhouette" a hard word to spell!)

I'm an apple and even though I lose weight somewhat evenly, the midsection is always biggest. I often need pants that are much larger than they have to be because I need the extra room in the waist. I don't like that I carry so much around the middle, but there isn't much I can do about my shape. Even when I am thinner I carry more weight in the torso area than anywhere else. Unfortunately, because I carry so much in the middle, it takes a long time for me to go down sizes and it's the last to come off

Agreed, losing it everywhere, but my belly is still biggest. Hopefully it will go down as well.
