Reminder
to watch your ingredients list on everything. I'm really good about checking labels, but I was caught off guard by a supplement.
I have been super hungry over the past few days and my scale won't move even though I've been super strict with my WOE. Anyway, right AFTER I popped two fast dissolving melatonin in my mouth last night, I thought I should check the label. Sure enough, there was the cuplrit. Dextrose was the first ingredient. The nutrition chart says no sugar or carbs. ARGH! Oh well, you live and learn. At least I know I'm not crazy. |
Yeah, I went through mine the other day. Magnesium- Dextrose and Maltodextrin.
Sublingual B12- Fructose I guess they figure bigger pills in bigger bottles = bigger $$. |
I think most pills, supplements included, have fillers that contain carbs. it is obviously less than a half gram per dose or the label would say "1 gram" of carb instead of zero. while in a perfect world we would avoid these things, I don't see how it would be possible for me, personally, given all the pills I need to take.
I dom't think that this is enough dextrose for you to notice these effects unless you are taking a LOT of pills every day. |
Yes, hidden ingredients are found in unexpected places.
I use mostly ProCaps supplements. One reason is that they contain no extra ingredients or fillers at all. |
Well, no sugary melatonin last night and I had a 1.6lb whoosh!! If something tastes like candy, it probably is :)

Congratulations, cfine! and that "If something tastes like candy, it probably is" is a great rule to remember (and to prompt one to read the label, checking for sugar in its many forms). |
