You use extra virgin coconut oil and make up little treats that you can freeze and eat to up the healthy fat in your diet. My favorite brand is Nutiva. Here is my recipe, but there are a lot of ones for chocolate fat bombs, etc.
1/2 cup EVCO (again, I use Nutiva brand)
1/2 cup natural peanut butter (you can also use almond butter, etc.)
1-2 tablespoons butter
Melt it all together and pour into paper-lined cupcake tins. I find the paper soaks up the grease and makes them better, but your experience may be different.
Then, you can break up pieces of sugar free chocolate, add in nuts (depending on where you are on in your low-carb journey) add in bits of coconut, etc. Make them the way you think you'll like them best.
I then freeze them and keep them in a ziplock baggie. I use the big, normal size cupcake liners and eat one or two a day. Be careful about eating too many at first and they do have a lot of calories.
These bombs have done the following for me:
- Helped my dry skin
- Ended sweet cravings
- Made me feel fuller
- Helped bring my blood sugar down
- Seem to up my immunity from colds (jury still out on this one)
Hope that answers your question. There are tons of different recipes for them, so you may find a different recipe that you like better than mine. I just tend to really like peanut butter. These remind me of peanut butter fudge.
