Struggling....

Hi All -

I've been in and out, "restarting" almost daily since I went off plan in Nov. I've gained back all but 1 lb.

Ugh.

I am so frustrated with myself. I keep telling myself "I'll start tomorrow." or that "it falls off so easy when I'm good, it's ok to be "bad" for a bit." etc.

I want to be HEALTHY. I am tired of being overweight. It's been 2 years! I'm over it.

I also am going on vacation in april, have engagement pictures in april, and wedding pics in September. I really want to look my best.

Why can't I just do this?

Anyways - I am going to start posting more again for accountability.

I could have written this six months ago (minus the engagement and wedding stuff). I think we struggle so much to actually get into the swing of things. I don't know if this will help but...

After struggling to "re-start" what seemed like hundreds of time in the last couple of years. Some thing just clicked last September and I started this WOE and haven't looked back. I have had a couple of slip ups, but luckily after only a bite or two I caught myself and said, "What ARE you doing?"

It definitely takes some extra effort, but I just looked for foods on plan that I love and surrounded myself with them. After 3-4 weeks sweets and potatoes and bread didn't even look appealing to me anymore.

Keep picking yourself up and brushing yourself off. You will get there!

Probably the best strategy is to have all "no no" foods unavailable at your house. Only have LC stuff in your cabinets and fridge. I'm a total newbie though and I'm still in the learning stage. My first step was eliminating most candies/cakes/sugary sweets/sugar drinks. The only candy I eat now is dark chocolate. But I feel a lot better and I rarely get acne breakouts anymore.

I think you should probably make a list of those foods which trigger your hunger and cravings, and then eliminate them from your house. The next step is to replace those trigger foods with LC alternatives that you genuinely enjoy. If you have an alternative that you enjoy that doesn't trigger hunger and cravings, why would you ever go back?

That is the stage I'm at now; finding alternatives.

Feb 1st (start date by tour avatar) is almost two whole days away. don't wait, start NOW! I found that the one time I succeeded, it was because I refused to wait another minute to start and started in the middle of a random day. Start now. Treat the bad stiff like poison and don't let it pass your mouth. Good luck!

Prepare stuff ahead so that the easiest food to get is the healthy stuff.

Good luck to you. You can do it.

readyfredy 01-30-2013 10:55 AM

Thanks all!

Yes - abby! I'm starting today! The 1st just seemed like a round number haha... I will change it.

If you're having that hard of time sticking with your woe, are you sure you're doing the one that's best for you/your lifestyle? Yes, losing weight is challenging at times, but having frustrations for so long and gaining most of your weight back, may be a sign that you need to try something else. There's so many different plans out there, even under the lc umbrella. Maybe spend some time researching different ones and see if something's a better fit :hugs:

I think I've restarted everyday now for the last 3 weeks. For me, I just have to take it one meal at a time and try to build some momentum.

jijane21 01-30-2013 01:27 PM

For me, I had that click moment that people talk about. I think mostly because I reached my highest weight ever with the exception of pregnancy. The biggest thing for me is the realization that there is always a reason to start tomorrow, or Monday, or after so and so's birthday party, and then a reason why you have to eat off plan. Just do it now, right now in the middle of the day, stop eating off plan. Make the choice to reach your goal in April, don't think of what you feel like you'll be missing, think about what you'll be gaining, your health, figure, and your pride in accomplishment. Who do you want to look at in photos, you now, or you on plan?

reddarin 01-30-2013 01:30 PM

Join a challenge thread. When I did that back in September, for the first time, I was surprised at how much it helped me.

I'm sorry that you are struggling :console: I know how annoying it can be not being able to stick with it. I was in the same situation the last 6months of last year. This time around I went about things a bit differently. I literally just take it one week at a time and I donít worry about anything beyond that. I only focus on that week and nothing else. For some reason this has taken the pressure off even though I plan to stick with it. Just knowing that I donít have to worry about anything but just getting through one week at a time really has made a difference in my mind set. When Sunday night rolls around and I have put in a whole week cheat free, it gets me pumped to commit to another week. I also joined a challenge group here and that has been a tremendous help, it keeps me accountable and checking in daily helps me stay on track.

Hope this helps a little and congrats on your engagementÖthat is very exciting:jumpjoy::jumpjoy:

Thanks again everyone!

Big Stevie 02-04-2013 02:32 PM

SOOOO whats happening readyfredy?????? Are you back eating on plan????

readyfredy 02-05-2013 05:39 PM

Yes! Day 2 on plan! I am posting my menus in the daily thread.

I bought a whole roasted chicken to keep at work so that's been great. Got some funny looks in the lunch room

I need to start eating more for breakfast.

Today I ate : flackers (flax seeds) and coffee w HH (2), chicken (2) for snack. Chicken w skin and 1/2 cucumber for lunch (6), pumpkin seeds (3), cauliflower and mayo for dinner (10).

clackley 02-05-2013 06:05 PM

Ya, good for you! Remember you are on induction and you may want to eat extra fat when you are tempted or just hungry. KUTGW!:)

readyfredy 02-06-2013 03:26 PM

Thanks, Clackley. I added 2 slices of havarti last night due to hunger and started off with 3 oz this am plus salami. I am feeling good.

I think I am ALMOST over the carb cravings (day 3)

clackley 02-06-2013 04:54 PM

That is great news. Keep up the good work!:high5:

cfine 02-06-2013 08:37 PM

WTG readyfredy!! You can do this. Remember, as Yoda says "Do or don't do, there is no try."

This is what I tell myself every time I want to sneak a bite of something off plan, or don't have the motivation to go to the gym. I have learned to hate the saying "I tried." It's a lie we tell ourselves often(our society as a whole, not you personally.) I refuse to say that anymore. I either do it(whatever it may be that I want to accomplish) or I don't do it, and whatever my decision is, for good or bad, I own it.

Did I just make sense? I hope so. It was meant as a pep talk and hopefully a way to motivate yourself and keep on the right track :)

readyfredy 02-07-2013 10:16 AM

Thanks! I've got wedding dress shopping in 10 days and a wedding in 220 so I really want to make this count and get to a healthy weight!

I am staying on plan!
