Weigh-Ins
Hi guys!
I've been reading a lot about scales and weighing yourself lately. I was interested to know how often and when you weigh yourself. Whether it's multiple times a day, at a certain time each day/week/month, or never. What do you all think/do? (I personally find it to be motivating to see either a low or high number on the scale. Although some scales can also be pretty misleading, so that's definitely a factor in deciding to weigh each day.) I'm excited to hear others' opinions regarding this topic |

I weigh every day (and have been for the last 4 years) on my wifi scale that records my weight for me. It's been nice to find trends in my weight loss patterns. It's gotten to the point where I can sometimes even predict a spike in weight followed by a drop in weight (which anyone on LC is well aware that this happens). It's neat to have extremely accurate trend lines.

I weigh every morning, and record the weight in my diet app. I measure myself monthly, and record those results as well. Back in the day, I used to record and graph it all in Excel, but the app has does all of that for several years now.
One way I know that I'm falling off-plan is when I stop keeping track of my body. I'm a numbers person, I like seeing it all there, laid out. I expect daily fluctuations and they don't bum me out. If you're the type to worry about them, don't weigh too often, maybe stick to weekly, monthly, or not at all. Use the tape measure, a pair of jeans, or take a full body bathing suit picture monthly. Whatever works for you is the best way to go about it. There are so many valid ways to track progress. The scale is but one. |

I weigh daily and use an online chart to monitor it. I love it as it has a trend line on it so even if the numbers have gone up the trend line is what I find important and as long as that is going down I am happy.

I weigh every morning- I have done this all through weight loss and now in maintenance. I don't weigh multiple times a day because obviously I will weigh more after eating and drinking all day and it's highly variable based on what kind of food I've eaten or how much water I've drank, whereas my first thing in the morning weigh in tends to be pretty steady.

I weigh myself once a week, on Mondays. I look forward to the "surprise" of the weight loss that one week should bring, the everyday up-and-down fluctuations are too frustrating for me. I'm part of a weight-loss challenge at work and we weigh in once a month for that.

I started out weighing once a week because I had just moved and my scale was at my parents' house, but now I've got a scale so I've been weighing every morning. I am still in the first month, so still losing a bit every day, but I suspect I will stop weighing so much when the scale slows down!

Just jumping back on the bandwagon, but for me, i need to weigh every day. My problem, if I don;t, is that I easily become willfully blind. I also chart it, and agree that normal ups and downs do not bother me when I can see that this is just my body's normal way to do things. I als started measuring this time. Can someone tell me if there is an app that tracks body measurements?

I weigh first thing every morning and log it in my notebook along with my menu for the day. I love flipping through it and seeing my progress.

I weigh myself about 4-5 times per week, always at the same time of day. I weigh in after I get the kids off to school and have had a cup of coffee, before I get showered and ready for the day. I found that I weigh less at this time than when I first get up.

Daily weigher here. The only times in my adult life that I have not been a daily weigher is when I know I was gaining and in denial.

Every Tuesday morning for along with measuring. I track it on the app I use as well as in a little notebook. I'm a neat freak, I like things written down!

I too am a daily weigher. But like Clackley, if I have a feeling that the scale wont be in my favour I wont weigh. I actually havent lost a pound in ages but I also have not gained so it is all good.

I weigh every morning, as part of my morning routine - potty, brush teeth, brush hair, wash face, weigh.
I only track losses and gains of 5 lbs from my low. (My low is, and has been for months, 135 lbs. If I hit 140, I have to record it, and then go back to strict eating to lose the weight, track those losses, and repeat.) |

I am another daily weigher here. I weigh first thing in the morning. I know there will be fluctuations up and down but as long as the overall trend is downward I know I am doing something right. If I am not weighing every day it means I am in denial of what I have been eating and that I am on a slippery slope back into a lifetime of obesity..I use the scale as a measure and for accountability for staying on plan.

I'm another first thing in the morning daily "weighee". Although, if I don't remember to weigh in before I eat something, I skip it. I try not to obsess because it all balances out.

I am also a daily weigher. If I don't know that I'm going to have to step on the scale in the morning, I have a tendency to eat something I am not supposed to and just say "oh, I'll be extra good tomorrow to take care of it". And then tomorrow, becomes the next day and the next day, etc. I need the accountability.
However, I only record my weight once a week. I write down my weight every morning, then on Saturday, I get an average weight for the week and subtract if from the average weight of the previous week. This allows for all the ups and downs of the week to even out.

I get a little cray-cray if I weigh too often. Now I usually do it a couple times a month to make sure I'm basically on track. For example, if I don't see/feel my body changing but I'm pretty sure I've been eating well, I check to see if I'm not just fooling myself. Always first thing after I get up, though.
