Induction and insomnia
 
I know from doing low carb before that my energy level increased, but this time it's bordering on manic! I can't sleep. It's good and bad. I don't mind an hour or two of sleeplessness, but 6 hours! Any ideas?

I think the best things to try are extra salt during the day in the form of chicken broth, adding magnesium in the form of a supplement (or use natural calm before bed) and 5mg sublingual melatonin at bedtime.

I had a lot of problems with sleep and now do all those things I listed above and sleep very, very well most of the time.

I would also recommend Calm magnesium and melatonin.

GABA also works for me. I take 750mgs about an hour before bed.

Already take melatonin because I work nights. I read adding coconut oil to coffee can cause a bit of insomnia, is that true?

When I sometimes took coconut oil at night I was a spaz....so it could effect you that way. And i was only taking a tbsp full. Maybe you should try cutting it out later in the day. I have to take it in the morning. If you are doing coconut oil and coffee later in the afternoon or evening, that could be it.

Weird about the coconut oil!! But anyhow, every time I have fallen out of ketosis and need to get back in, I have about a week where I cannot sleep and sleep poorly while my body adjusts to all those ketones! But it does pass. Just give it time:)
