Back and Humbled
Thought I had this so under control. Well, turns out I don't. We moved into a new house on Monday and I've been eating carb convenience foods every single day, sometimes more than once a day. My stats are embarrassing considering what they were at the beginning of the week.

I know ALL of this weight gained is not fat, but no matter. and I know myself; I can and will get disciplined and lose it again fairly quickly. Still, can't believe I let myself fail like this for an entire week.

Thanks for listening to me vent. Glad there are people I can reach out to who understand.

No need to explain...stressful times trigger that Carb monster in all of us ....our brain tells us we need and deserve these types of food for comfort and stress control...get back in control and hop right back on the wagon...you are a strong individual and can do this....I enjoy your posts and I know that you will succeed in getting back on track.

I agree that stress can be such a challenge and moving house is about as stressful as it gets. Good for you for nipping it in the bud! You will be back to your svelte self in no time!! Oh and congrats on the new home!!

Control. what is control? how do we keep it? maintain it every single day in our lives?

honestly I don't know.

what works for me is I regard high junk carbs as poison. The more I say this, the more I believe it, the more I look at any high carb/sugar junk food and think that is pure poison.

I say, why not just drink poison? it would be faster than the slow death of obesity, guts rotting inside, other ailments inside and out.

So if I think of it this way FOR ME it gives me a bit more control over situations.

when someone shoves a cookie in my face and says 'try these, they are delish' I look at that cookie as someone handing me cyanide wrapped in a cookie crust :)

hey whatever I can do to keep control is so important to me. And it really does give me a mental image of why I don't want that cookie.

hang in there. we do the best we can. and getting back on track after hitting carbs heavy for alot of days is rough, rough and more rough. stay strong!

Even MORE congrats on getting control after 4 days. Most people? 4 weeks, months, or years. So GO DEBORAH! Be proud of yourself!

Be proud of yourself that it only lasted a few days. My last one lasted three months and ten pounds.:)

I think it's great that you only took a week off. I bet lots of people would have thought:"I messed up now, might as well not even bother. I'll get around to it again eventually." Good on you for jumping right back on the horse!

I am tackling this like I did quitting smoking. I quit almost 8 months ago, fully aware that I could never smoke again. No "just this once" for me. The addict in me would cave immediately and I would be back to my old habits in no time flat. And besides, the first week was so hellish I did (and do) not want to go through that again!
I am viewing high carb eating the same way. Sugar is as bad for my body as smoking. And the carb-addict in me cannot have "just this one small piece of chocolate cake" because after I eat it, I will feel defeated, ravenous, and disappointed in myself all at the same time. A sure fire recipe for disaster. So... no more cigarettes, no more sugary carby stuff.
And just like when I quit smoking, I am taking it one day at a time. And sometimes one hour at a time. And if that gets too hard (and sometimes it does), one minute at a time.
We can do it! We are worth the effort! :hugs:

I had a piece of chocolate last night...ONE PIECE!!!
and I hated myself all morning LOL
a trip to the gym calmed me down.
We can get a little compulsive about this LC stuff eh?:sing:

Like everyone else said, you caught it after only a few days, not a few weeks or months. Life gets in the way for all of us. You'll be back to your skinnie minnie self in no time :shake:

It's going to happen sometimes. Spending the rest of your days without ever eating anything carby would take super powers! The key thing is catching it before too much damage is done and being able to get back on the wagon again (the hard part). Drinking some extra water for a few days will probably take most of it off, but you might have to fight cravings for a while. You know how to do it though. :) JMO - I thought you looked a bit too skinny there for a while anyway, when you dropped below 120.

Thank you for all the support everyone. It's so embarrassing sometimes to come back and admit when you've just ignored everything you know is good for both your health and your weight.

Numbers are already much better this morning, nearly 5 pounds down from yesterday's post. Which means my entire week of carb craziness probably mostly left me with a lot of water weight and not actual much fat pound weight.

Thanks again for listening, giving advice, and mostly letting me know how important it is to get right back up again even if you have a bad fall!
