Sometimes I buy Wholly Guacamole. It isn't too spiced up so I use it in anything I would a plain avocado, and it comes in 100 calorie packs so it isn't too much to open at one time. I used to buy the regular size packages and we didn't finish that unless a crowd was having chips & guacamole. |

Good to know they make them in small packs - I love chicken w/ guac but I can't see myself using an entire avocado just for a bit of chicken! |

I see Wholly Guacamole also makes a plain avocado pack. I'm going to check those out as I just threw out 3 as I couldn't eat them quick enough. I love the guacamole packs also but really like the smooth sweetness of plain avocado.

One trick is to leave the pit in the half you're not eating, then wrap it in plastic wrap very tightly.
Or you can mash up a lot, add a little acid (vinegar, lime juice, etc) and press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of your container then put the lid on. Air is what causes it to oxidize, so making sure there's no air-to-surface contact helps a lot. |

I just don't let the brown bother me if I know it's just from the day before. If it tastes bad, that's one thing, but I don't begrudge a little oxidization. ![]() |

Although they aren't part of my regular daily food plan, I do enjoy them fresh off the tree here in Florida from time to time. I sprinkle a little balsamic vinegar on it and am in absolute heaven!

I love avocados. So does my family. I buy 10 each week. I live in California and they are generally not to expensive if you go to the right stores to buy them. The Mexican markets always seem to have them at a good price.
Keep them in the dark and they will stay hard. Bring a couple out each day to rippen on the counter. That way they won't spoil. Once you cut them, they can go brown. I must eat the brown part unless it gets hard. If it is hard, then I cut it off. It is usually only a very thin layer that gets oxidized. |

Every time I see avocados on sale 5 for $2.50 I stock up. I make guacamole every few days, sometimes a few days in a row. I make sure to eat all the guac within 16 hours and the browning isn't too bad.
Three avocadoes three cloves garlic (love me some garlic) salt pepper 1 tsp lemon juice So simple and delicious. I could eat it every single day. |

I just made a non-LC recipe utilizing avocado. It is a Pinterest recipe where you slice a very ripe banana and put it in the freezer. You then put it in a blender along with the avocado and 2 packets of Splenda and blend until a smooth ice cream like consistency. Viola! Banana ice cream! The avocado is pretty indistinguishable and lends a creaminess to the ice cream.
