What do u order at your fave fast food dive?

I rarely go to drive throughs, but would love to know what to order that is Low Carb friendly. Someone posted that they get the jr. turkey and swiss sandwich minus the bread at Arbys. :)

Please post your faves!

Wendy's is LC friendly - you can order their burgers bunless and it will come in a container to eat with a fork and knife. I think their chili is LC safe too.

In & Out has a bunless option - it is wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun but it can be very messy.

tymom 01-13-2013 07:43 AM

You can ask for any burger at McD wrapped in lettuce. Angus mushroom swiss is a fave of mine.

I also order scrambled eggs and sausage for breakfast sometime. or a sausage McMuffin/without the muffin (will come on a plate)

Iced coffee- order it cream only no sugar or syrup... delish. (There is also a sugar free vanilla syrup.)

i actually think you can go about anywhere and survive LC if you order creatively and think about your options.

I'm pretty sure Wendy's chili has lots of beans so check the nutrition info before eating. They have a chicken blt salad that is good or I get a bunless burger w/o ketchup.

sya_unit 01-13-2013 08:25 AM

Yes, I agree with Sue. Just about anywhere is do-able. I just order a double cheese burger, no onions, no katsup, and no bun. If they have decent lettuce I will cut up my burger and put it on top of the side salad - bring my own dressing or if they have decent dressings. I keep a couple of ranch to go in my car. (just in case.) But most the time there is a dressing that I can swing with. The only place I haven't mastered is Taco Bell. Oh well. I've gone a year without taco bell and have survived - and thrived.

DiamondDeb 01-13-2013 08:53 AM

The only fast food place I go to is Starbuck's and all I get there is black coffee.

I think that may change soon because we have a Jimmy John's now & I've heard great things about their Unwiches. The one here does not have a drive thru though. That will make it less convenient.

Annabel Lee 01-13-2013 08:58 AM

I get a flying dutchman at In and Out.
It is meat and cheese and they give you a fork and knife to eat it with.
I find it easer than protein style that is wrapped with lettuce.
Add chili pepper and wow!

Make your own chili, the small chili at Wendy's has 21 grams of carbohydrates in it!!!!

DressageLover 01-13-2013 08:03 PM

Jack in the box has lots of great options.
Grilled chicken strips
Extreme Sausage Sandwich w/out the bun

They are kind of lame at lettuce wrapping, but will throw it in a dish and give you a knife and fork no problem.

In n Out's double double protein style is heaven!

And Carl's Jr will lettuce wrap any of their sandwiches/burgers. My fav is the grilled chicken club.

goldgirl24 01-13-2013 08:17 PM

Five Guys little cheeseburger no bun!

picklepete 01-13-2013 10:06 PM

Not exactly drivethrough, but when I'm on the road I'll look for either Mexican (taco salad, burrito bowl, or fajita plate minus the tortilla) or Chinese (stir fry sampler).

cabrioluvr 01-15-2013 10:40 AM

I like Five Guys too. Double burger, no cheese, with grilled onions, tomato and lettuce - yum.

Hardees still has the low carb burger - wrapped in lettuce, just say no to the onion (they put a lot on there) and ketchup - it's delish

pocahontas 01-15-2013 10:42 AM

I always order burgers with a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. We usually only eat fast food on road trips and try to always go to In-N-Out! :yummy:

I'm gonna do this next time. I usually get a double double protein style with no tomato or saucey stuff. I try to avoid it, but my kids are crazy for in and out and I think it's a lot better than the alternatives if you don't have the time (or energy!) to stop and eat or cook at home.

I also go through a mexican drive through near our house. I live in san diego, so we have some pretty awesome mexican here. I get two carnitas tacos, hold the tortillas, extra mexican salsa and lime, lots of salt, and if I have some sour cream at home, I'll plop some of that on. Yum!

creseis 01-15-2013 11:03 AM

I need to try 5 Guys. My bf thinks it's great and I've been fighting him, but maybe I'm wrong.

Taxbane 01-15-2013 11:40 AM

Lets see:
McDonalds: 4-5 McDoubles, throw away the buns.

Burgerking: 3 Double Cheese Burgers, throw away the buns.

KFC: Grilled Chicken Breasts, or even one orginal chicken breast, or even a their bunless
double chicken filet sadwhich with cheese and bacon without the sauce.

Pollo Tropical: Rotissery Chicken or Wings, or shredded pork

Wendys: 4-5 cheesey cheddar burgers, throw away bun

Taco Bell: 4-6 Hard or Soft Beef or Chicken Tacos, thow away all the shells, just eat the innards like a taco salad. Can also get one pintos and cheese less the red sauce which is about 12 NC I think. Can also use own LC tortillas from home.

biggestloser 01-15-2013 11:48 AM

I just went through Taco Time (I think it's just a Pacific Northwest chain) yesterday since I forgot my lunch. I had a large beef taco salad with ranch dressing, no chips. 9 net carbs, so not terrible.

Jannybunny 01-15-2013 12:30 PM

Taco Time is what I frequent most if I have to do fast food (I think husband owns stock in it or something...he always wants to go there for lunch if we are on the road  )

I get the regular chicken taco salad, either ranch or Santa Fe dressing, no tomato, no chips

Occasionaly for breakfast, I go through McDonald's and get the sausage McMuffin or egg McMuffin (throw away the muffin)

ChristiansMom 01-15-2013 02:29 PM

I've never had a problem asking for any fast food burger or sandwich without the bun and I always sub out the fries for a side salad.

At Carl's Jr I will get their steak and egg burrito without the tortilla and they will put it in a bowl. It has steak, egg, cheese and salsa.

At McDonald's I just order 2 scrambled eggs and 2 sausage patties by themselves.

I love eating at El Pollo Loco for LC meals. Grilled Chicken, side salad (no tortilla strips) and they have steamed veggies as an option too.

I've found that they will all do what they can to get you want you need.

Dottie 01-15-2013 05:19 PM

Burger patty on a side-salad with whatever full fat dressing they have.

I don't think you are. For me, their burgers have absolutely no flavor- no wonder they need to offer all those unlimited toppings- since you need them to cover up the dry, flavorless meat.

Heh, same here. It's edible but I don't understand why it's $6.

To. Die. For.

Best burgers on the planet, and if your WOE supports potatos, they cook the french fries in peanut oil. At $16 in the grocery, that oil is expensive, but somehow they keep their costs VERY low.

evas 01-15-2013 06:39 PM

Wendy's Baconator! Say "no bun, no ketchup," it just comes with the 2 burgers, cheese, bacon & mayo.

wannabethin57 01-16-2013 04:08 AM

Thanks for all these suggestions!!

kittycitygirl 01-16-2013 04:18 AM

Most places will do bunless if you ask. Be careful about condiments. Some automatically add reg. ketchup, etc. unless you make it clear you don't want that.

Randy 01-16-2013 05:50 AM

If you know you're going to have a meal at a fast food restaurant, an option is to take a 'cheesepuff bun' with you. A couple more carbs, but a great vehicle if you like to eat your sandwich with your hands. I nuke a couple of slices of white american cheese (on parchment paper) for 50 seconds or so.
Let them cool, put in a plastic bag and take them with you.

I get chicken salads

JQuintero 01-16-2013 07:55 AM

El Pollo Loco - #4 Skinless Breast meal - comes with a side salad and steamed veggies. The EPL by my house automatically gives you a skinless boneless breast - you can ask for it at other EPLs if they have it.

In & Out - double double protein style. I had one Tuesday and it was so good.

Jersey Mikes - sub in the tub (haven't tried yet but excited to have another place to go).

Panera bread - I haven't tried this but I just heard about their "hidden menu" that they keep at the register. It has a couple of low carb brakfast items and a few salads on it. I'm excited about this since we tend to go there for lunch on training days and I wouldn't have to decline the invite.

Glad to hear of some other places that I could get some low carb options. Five Guys being one - still haven't tried and now I will have to :)
